No joke, you'll be dead in a week if you can't find help. I grew up out there. It's not for amateur survivalists. Without adequate preparation and a fuckton of supplies, you will die. That's no exaggeration or joke. I've lived off the land and know a lot about survivalism. I wouldn't even take a 3 day hike in the Utah desert without preparations and an exit plan with emergency contacts made aware of my planned arrival date and location. People disappear in the Utah desert and are never seen again.

Happens all the time sadly. Even just a short afternoon hike can turn deadly in that area. Friend of mind in highschool had his brother go missing in December near a town. They didn't find him until the Spring thaw. He was trapped under a falling boulder and a small avalanche in the canyons. He hiked that trail all the time and it still got him. If anyone wants to know what the dangers of the Utah desert is like, watch 127 Hours. The desert doesn't give a fuck if you're having a good time. It will kill you in an instant.
