You do lack context my friend

The only way to take that is that he threatened Comey of potential tapes of their conversations if he keeps leaking stuff, implying that he has dirt on Comey.

> potential tapes of their conversations
Who possesses these tapes, I think the insinuation was that Comey would have been labeled a leaker If a tape was leaked. So for that to happen Comey would have had the tapes, and not Trump.

That makes no sense, why would Trump say "Comey better hope he didn't record the things he's leaking!"
It makes far more sense to say "If you keep leaking stuff just remember I have tapes of our talks!" It also fits more in with Trump's typical personality.

He never said he had tapes. He was warning Comey better not have any he recorded on his own in a private meeting where no recording devices were allowed.
>James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!
