Yes, to otherwise would be unilateral disarmament. As a culture we always used to acknowledge and venerate the deaths of martyrs and openly champion the ways in which they died. Look at any Christian martyr, paintings and discriptions go into detail on how they suffered, because their suffering is edifying to know.

The word "passion" actually means "suffering," but it become used to mean uplifting energy and attachment, because we understood that partaking in the suffering of our martyrs was an uplifting edefiying thing that gave us energy.

I would look into this more but I'm so tired...I think I'm just gonna take a nap.
