Hitler didn't want to kill the Jews and prisoners of war. It was Albert Speer's idea to use the concentration camps as a source of factory labor for the war effort. They were slave labor work camps. Jews weren't systematically killed or tortured, although cosmopolitan jews who shirk physical labor viewed it as torture. Towards the end of the war, cut off supply lines, winter, and disease (typhus) were the biggest cause of death- not gas chambers. If you look at all of the photos of the victims its obvious that the emaciated bodies reveal starvation/disease.
Also the reason they were shaven and given striped pajamas was due to the lice and fleas spreading the diseases. The myths about jew hair textiles and skin lampshades are complete bullshit made up by fantastical "eye witness accounts".

there wasn't anything the nazis did that we didn't do in some way. but a lot of the war was focused on new types of propaganda, so each side saw the other as some inhumane torture machine. shit was far worse in the ussr and we even have a sense of that because of the cold war, but communists are not hunted down in modern society because that shit never got serious.
