What if one of the many ancient proto-human species returned to the ocean (like whales) and continued evolving there?

Sure, they might be more advanced in some areas, and could be less advanced in others given different environments.

Look at the commonalities. Right after WWII, when we had been having major naval battles sinking ships and planes all over the world, testing and using nukes, and just as we're developing the technologies that will eventually allow us to travel into space, 'aliens' start being sighted all over the place. Their ships crash at Roswell and several other places, just like a lot of our rockets and planes and satellites do while we're testing them. Their governments may be keeping us a secret from most of their population to avoid panic, just as ours would with them. Some of their people would still be discussing the few planes and rockets we crashed into the oceans near them.

We're trying to go from the surface into space; they're trying to go from deep underwater to the surface. For the same reason people spread everywhere--curiosity.

Maybe they even reverse engineered our tech and decided going to the moon wouldn't be that much more difficult than going to the surface, explaining the shit reported by some astronauts.

first video doesnt answer my question at all. i asked about different stars, not different rotations. the southern hemisphere has different stars and consitllations then the northern one. that wouldn be the case if it was flat.

also i saw a video some time showing that the size doesnt change the size as it appears. its just that due to the angle the light passes more (when close to the horizon) or less atmosphere (when above you) and in the letter one has less atmosphere blocking it making it appear brighter. search for a timelapsvideo with some filter that gets rid of the glaring effect. cant find one right now, but i saw one some time ago and if you are truely interested in the truth im sure you will be willing to do some search

There's no reason you can't have different stars in the north and south on a flat earth. Your viewing distance when looking up at the night sky is still limited due to perspective. The earth may be flat but it's still massive, you can't see all the stars from one position.

The size of the sun definitely changes in some cases, and sometimes it doesn't. It all depends on the amount of atmospheric lensing distorting your perception. The only way to get accurate measurements of the sun's diameter would be to remove the atmosphere.

I think its a possibility that there may be space faring species that are not "intelligent" (in the sense of, splitting the atom and doing math) but rather have found themselves on an incomprehensible (to us) path of biological evolution which has placed them in space, traveling between planets- without thoughtfulness. A predatory, hungry species driven purely by natural selection and instinct that consumes and eats alive other biological life and consumes resources like an amoeba.

Why do I think this? Because this is the case with almost all life on the only planet we know of where life exists. Intelligence as we define it may be a fluke. Robotic, unfeeling, consumption and predation may be the larger scheme in the cosmos.

I think this is what hawking was hinting at, when he expressed that we may be "better off" not advertising our position in the cosmos with active radio SETI programs.

We may be in the galactic equivalent of the Alaskan wilderness, surrounded by powerful predators that can't be reasoned with.

The Fermi Paradox scares me. You think we'd have seen some signs of life by now.

We have theories on life developing. You've got the Miller-Urey experiment for the chemistry side of things, and the RNA-clay hypothesis + basic fat chemistry for the cellular stuff.

I've always figured that if aliens are out there and visiting earth, they must have the universe, physics and shit pretty well figured out. But one thing they'd be interested in is life that other planets produce since life can vary so wildly. Explains things like cow mutilations unless someone has a hobby of helicoptering cows ~100 feet in the air and dropping them for fun.

It is just as probable that we are the only life in this universe, in this dimension, in this timeline.

It took 8 billion years for population 1 stars (Hydrogen and helium) to form and then go supernova, creating heavier elements that then formed into a population 2 star, that then went supernova and formed into a population 3 star and also formed our planet with (roughly 5 billion years old) and then our planet had to have a massive collision to liquefy it and spread the elements out and also heat and spin the core of the planet, and then the perfect alignment of chemicals/radiation/pressure/temperature/humidity/sunlight/elements had to line up and come together to even have the possibility of life to form.

And perhaps for those to happen we had to be on a specific sized planet, with a specific density, a specific distance from the sun, rotating at a specific speed, orbiting the sun at a specific speed, with our seasons occurring at a specific interval with a moon shaped a specific size, orbiting our planet at a specific speed, within a specific distance range, etc. etc.

Perhaps we are really the first sentient self aware life to arise in this universe.
