There is actual graduate level algebraic number theory in this thesis, although I'm not going to bother figuring out exactly how much.

This thesis is incredibly unconventional. In fact, all the other math PhD theses I've seen look pretty similar. They are uniformly rigorous (although the amount of new material proved varies immensely - this has huge implications for what kind of jobs the mathematician will get in the future).

So these are notices to all of the non-mathematicians
- Getting a PhD in math is hard, especially from a place like Princeton. It's even harder to continue doing quality math research and obtaining jobs as a research professor. There is literally no way to bullshit your way to such a job. You are judged based on your contributions to math research.
- This woman does have a publication which is completely conventional, in a highly ranked math journal: https://arxiv.org/abs/1309.2025.
- People are freaking out that she got a professorship. Well it seems that she has a teaching professorship rather than a research professorship. The difference is that she'll have to teach many classes while not having much time to concentrate on her own research. One doesn't have to be a great researcher to get the kind of job she has, one just has to be a good teacher (which may be).

I'm not really here to to defend her work. But all you faggots extrapolating that it's somehow easy to get a math PhD from Princeton have no idea what you're talking about. And again, the fact that she has some kind of job as a professor somewhere is not really all that impressive in and of itself.

I have been sending some of these screenshots to my advisor who like me is primarily a statistician and also a very unconventional academic who is not averse to throwing a joke or two in a publication. In her thesis she fucks up basic LaTeX formatting.

And her writing style is ebonics. Manjul writes like
a eloquent Mathematician.
