Do you guys think marriage right now is corrupt? It seems like it's more of a business and a completely different beast than the marriage that existed when it was written about in the Bible. Do you think God would still support marriage today? Personally I don't think so. Marriage, at least up here, is heavily skewed in the favor of the woman. Same with child custody. I've been "engaged" with a girl for a few years now, do you guys think having sex with her is still a sin, just because we didn't go through the legal process called "marriage"? Thank you for the answers. It seems that many modern Christians are more lax in regards to this subject, accepting multiple theories to be true. It seems that Orthodoxy is a great deal more stingy with this, always weary of the Latins. I find that it is probably more important to understand the necessity of the Passion, than to understand it's mechanisms; it is sufficient to believe in it, and to understand that one is saved by it, and only it.

Even my anti catholic uncle never told me not to be catholic. He only said "i'm glad you believe in jesus and i hope you read the bible" that's it. I am surprised by the diversity within the Catholic Church. Even in a small US city, the churches are divided among historical ethnic line. For example, the church near me is in the historically German part of town, while downtown is a historically Czech area. Both churches are very German or Czech and have a very different feel to them.
