If it hasn't sunk in yet, this election is about Brexit. Labour won't publicly commit and so they are going to drown in the deepest abyss of irrelevance and stay there for the next twenty years.
>>
>>126303491
My local Labour MP is a former NHS manager who contributes papers to key reforms in how local healthcare is administered. She's ran a couple of apprentice fairs also. The Conservative candidate is a former dodgy Councillor whose only promise is to help improve road congestion. Obviously not all Tory MPs are like this but the talented ones seem spineless to object to what is being done to the country.

I'd much rather have Keir Starmer in charge of negotiations than David Davis.
>>126303828
Labour people haven't said this. Maybe they took advantage of White British people but during the Blair years they assumed inequality would be rid of soon so British people could take the attention being given to minorities. This was a mistake and most Labour politicians are genuinely listening to working class now, hence accepting Brexit.

I'd still say its not as bad as the class contempt the Tory elites and their tabloids hold for British people. Pick up a copy of the Sun and shit they print sums up how intelligent they think British people are.

Here's a taste
>Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all. We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain.

you should probably read the manifesto

>"In harnessing the digital revolution, we must take steps to protect the vulnerable and
give people confidence to use the internet without fear of abuse, criminality or exposure
to horrific content. Our starting point is that online rules should reflect those that govern
our lives offline. It should be as unacceptable to bully online as it is in the playground"

bye bye 4chan

>" Given the
comprehensive nature of the first stage of the Leveson Inquiry and given the lengthy
investigations by the police and Crown Prosecution Service into alleged wrongdoing,
we will not proceed with the second stage of the Leveson Inquiry into the culture,
practices and ethics of the press."

No it couldn't. Real wages for the working class more than doubled from 1850-1900. Resources aren't infinite. We must do what we can to make the total amount of resources larger. I cannot think of a single country that embraced market policies for 30 years that was afterwards worse off than before. People's wages rise in competition as their marginal productivity rises and people want to buy workers for higher prices.

Sure but the (flawed) implication of Objectivism is that this is pursuit of self interest is primarily economic, which is demonstrably untrue, it totally ignores concepts such as culture and tradition. Hence why Objectivists support things like (((free migration))) when your average person intuitively understands that this would be an absolute disaster.
It is as idealistic and unrealistic an ideology as Communism.

Your doubt isn't an argument. There's no reason to believe that limiting the amount of contract people can agree to leads to people not starving. Minimum wages have never increased the average wage.

OK, you have a gang of working Englishmen who want to work for you, they require, let's say for argument £8 an hour to support each their family and pay their bills and accommodation.
Then you have a gang of migrants that are only a little bit worse, however they're all going to live under the same roof and their family are in their home country. They're going to be able to pay their single house and bills, and send the money home, for £4 an hour.

Which is hired?
>>
>>126309223
If we were living in a country with tariff barriers your argument would make sense, but at the same time you desire these policies you, as a believer of the free market, are forcing Britons to compete with coolie labor in Asia and India. Of course living standards for the average Brit will decrease in such a circumstance.
Globalisation and deregulation as you desire it will lead to a world wide equalization among the working classes, since their are literally billions of cheap human chattle around the world this means those in wealthy countries will be absolutely fucked.
>>
>>126309387
>Why wouldn't you mutually agree with competitors to keep wages as low as possible?
Can you name a single scenario in which this has actually happened, and, if so, one in which it has been maintained for more than a month.
It's cool to throw out all of these unrealisable hypotheticals until you notice that the same ridiculous hypotheticals can be claimed of your idea of getting government to fix the "issues" at hand.
Ought we put a price cap on rent because what if all of the landlords make rent infinite pounds?
Ought we put a price cap on clothes because people can't be naked?
Food?
Let's just have a central government authority set the prices on literally everything because people will just collude otherwise.

All that is required to break one of these wage lowering conspiracies is for a new business to appear which wants profit and employs these workers at an extremely profitable wage slightly above what the cartel is offering them. How tyrannic.
>>
>>126309781
>All that is required to break one of these wage lowering conspiracies is for a new business to appear which wants profit and employs these workers at an extremely profitable wage slightly above what the cartel is offering them.

What's the incentive for that? Pay them the bare minimum, pocket the rest, and they'll just do the work because the market is so shit at the moment.
>>
>>126309628
The latter ought to be hired, as they are creating output for less value. Sending money home increases their wage demands, anyway. If all is equal but one party requires extra money to send somewhere else, then the one that doesn't send money will get the job. The logical conclusion of arguing that the person who is using more resources for maintenance should be hired is that it's unfair that a person who has to maintain a family of 50,000 and who has to pay bills for his manor the size of Wales would not be hired over a man who lives in a single room alone.

>>126309650
>are forcing Britons to compete with coolie labor in Asia and India.
Yes, I am. There is nothing inherently wrong with this. Wealthy countries are so because they are the most productive. To say that they are less productive than the poorer countries is a contradiction. There is a reason why the world's economic superpowers have always had capital inflows, not outflows. Venice didn't outsource it's labour, the Netherlands didn't in 1500s, Britain didn't from 1700-1900, the U.S. didn't from 1800-1960. Only once the cost of employing native labour was risen artificially for the purpose of protecting the labourer did it become cheaper to instead employ foreign labour. This is historical fact.

>Globalisation and deregulation as you desire it will lead to a world wide equalization among the working classes
Not true. Differences in human capital are extremely vast, as are differences in political thought and political institution, especially with regards to property rights.
>>
>>126309628
if we stop mass immigration we could get rid of the minimum wage it's as simple as that. At the moment if you're doing unskilled work companies can pay you the bare minimum and if you don't like it there's a limitless supply of immigrants who will take the job. Stop immigration and all of a sudden workers have some leverage and it becomes a 2 way street where they need you as much as you need them. That would result in living wages to attract workers, and they wouldn't fire people so quick as well.

For now though, you need a minimum wage - even though it's below a living wage.
>>
>>126310255
>What's the incentive for that?
Profit.
The market being shit doesn't matter much. It wouldn't be for long. The market gets good when things that people want are produced by using very little of the things that people also want (labour, capital). Provide an example of employer collusion, please.

>>126310465

That wasn't my argument. Demographic replacement correlates ridiculously highly with the level of welfare and socialism in a nation.
>>

>>
>>126310692
Poland hasn't seen much demographic replacement since joining the EU. Germany has. Both have equally open borders.
Borders were much more open in medieval times than they are now. There wasn't great demographic movement back then, as the incentive to move around was very small due to cultural monism in each location and no gibs.
