What can we fo about the situation of modern music!
Are we beyomd the point of no return or is their a chance of enticing the youth with Elgar, and Wagner or are we completly fucked as a nation for culture!

I still listen to clasical european composers however will the rest of my fellow mileninals listen or is it a lost cause?

Most people never did listen to this kind of stuff. The real problem with modern music is that it's manufactured, and I mean that it's drawn together from plans and applied through machinery at almost every level.

I wish that traditional music would make a come back rather than classical, which will always be appreciated among the elite. Our ancient traditional folk songs are being forgotten, and that hurts me more.

Only half related.

The reason why music has become bad is because the 'making the sausage' part of songwriting relies on you to fire on all cylinders which means lots of embarrassing stream of consciousness stuff but nowadays people are too sheepish to do it so they play it safe and bandwagon

>The internet is fantastic for your mind

It really isn't.

This punditry about how the internet will save the world is really getting old now, since all it seems to come down to is another way to take money from, and spy on, us.

If we didn't have the internet, chances are we'd have developed into a rather sizeable real-world movement rather than a single thread on 4chan. Not huge, but present.

It just seems like it's a pacifier, that it is a way of making you feel like you're doing something while accomplishing nothing.

And as for studying, then it ends at Project Gutenberg.

>The internet is fantastic for your mind; it's the best repository of information we could ever have hoped for.
No it's not. This is straight bullshit. You can find all of the information on the internet without it, and it's actually better that way since you have to "earn" the knowledge and therefore it's more valuable. You probably even remember it better that way.

The internet is a good idea on paper, but in practice its terrible.
Despite what you may believe, the negatives outweigh the positives by far.
You fell for the romanticised "the internet is like all of history at once bro, dude", but it's not. No one uses it for that, because we're all human and can be distracted, even geniuses can be. It's just a time blackhole of disgusting shit and distractions.

>Bare minimum I thought about it twice a week, every week.

That's normal. You'll still get regular urges for a long time (I quit smoking about 4 years ago and they didn't stop until at least a year after I quit). You need to sort your head out and learn how to handle those sudden urges. Understand that the feeling will pass and that you'll be back to normal if you just tough it out. One day, you'll realise "oh, I haven't even thought about smoking for a month". That's when you know you're in the clear.

What I mean is that smoking stops being the norm for you. It stops being a habit that you just default to without even thinking. That happens quickly. Once that habit is broken, the rest is just self-control, mindfulness and discipline.

If you just love smoking, try vaping. Never done it myself, but apparently it works.

You need to become more in-tune with your body, which is a slow process. Since I started playing 5 a side football I got addicted to the competitiveness. Improving how much I could run in a game, my technique, how quick I can move my feet and coordinate them. So I started not smoking on days I played, then took it to days before and after and suddenly I didn't care about smoking. Same thing with sugar. Slowly winded down my intake to the point where my body feels shit eating a chocolate bar once a week.

>You can find all of the information on the internet without it

WEW

Spending weeks searching for banned books. Spending hours in a library searching for a single passage to back up a claim. If you really believe that, you obviously aren't using the internet properly.

And looking things up online and reading them is 'earning' knowledge just as much as reading a book or going to a presentation.

>Nobody uses it for that

Speak for yourself. I've learned more from the internet than from 16 years of formal education.

There are many downsides, I'm not disputing that, but that's down to people not the internet. If there's demand for videos of people throwing up on each other, somebody will make them. You don't have to watch them, you can totally ignore that side of the internet if you want.

And I have a perfectly fine sleeping pattern, I'm fit and healthy, I have a good social life. If you're spending 12 hours a day on the internet, that's an issue. If you use it for a couple of hours in the evening instead of watching TV or doing fuck all, you're able to better yourself.

It can be damaging if you use it in a shit way, it can be massively beneficial if you use it properly.

I think groups like that would benefit from no internet since then they would have to rely on word of mouth mainly, and that kind of thing suits them well.

If you think about how "movements" started a thousand years ago, or even a hundred years ago, they were relatively similar, where as now they're completely different.

The internet serves as a pressure release valve as you said, and also "confuses" would be members of a "movement" into believing they're too smart, too clever, too different, too whatever, to join said controversial movement.

Overall it makes people lazy. We're all lazy in the west. We all claim to care about shit but we don't really. People prefer to sit and play games over protecting the future for their offspring, etc. It's all sad when you think about it. Man could be so much more but instead we've been gently nudged into being almost worthless, soul-less nothings, with no motivation to do anything except things that make us feel good.

No one has used the internet as you say, because we're not fucking robots. There is simply too many distractions. There is no way to isolate oneself from all of these distractions, (many of which designed to lure out the most primal of instincts within you).

You'd be forced to let your rage out in public, where others would hear you actually with their ears.

The internet is not a great tool for persuasion. I've never seen someone persuaded by an argument online.

I don't think people properly learn shit on the internet - not the majority of people anyway.

It's the ease of access that fuck us,compared to the past. Thirty years ago, if you wanted to learn about transistors, say, you'd go to the library and get a book about them. You'd bring it home, open it up and sit and read it. And without any distraction - no FB, no Whatsapp, no email, no posting on here, no looking other shit up when you get distracted - there was a real likelihood, if you were interested in the subject, that you'd get a solid, hardcore, uninterrupted, "where did the time go?" two hour study session on transistors.

What you mostly get now is people will Google "transistors", read half the Wiki page on them, then maybe click on the link to "semiconductors" and read half of that, all whilst checking their FB and theri text messages and shitposting on here and then you ask them the next day what they did and they say "I learned all about transistors". It's bullshit.

Well if it wasn'f for the internet Paki rape gangs would not be exposed, the (((BBC))) would just downplay or ignore the subject and few people would even know about it

The reason vigilantes haven't formed is because our standard of living is currently good enough and too many people have too much to lose by starting violence and mobs.

Politically the internet is an absolute gift for those on the nationalist side. There isn't the self censorship that exists IRL and people can voice their true feelings on things like rapefugees, instead of having to pretend to have a balanced opinion in an office type environment. When more and more people realise everyone else is thinking what they are thinking, these ideas become established and mainsteam.

>He was studying optics, but there was a problem. Some people saw strange colored spots in front of their eyes. Some people saw certain colors. Were colors influenced by the eye? Newton decided to find out by sticking a needle between his eyelid and eye, and digging around the backside of his eyeball like a pig routing for truffles. He then documented the 'light and dark colored spots' appeared when he moved 'ye bodkin' but that they disappeared when he kept it still.

> No. They're looking that shit up on Wikipedia and calling their millimetre deep perusal "knowledge".

Again, as I've said many times, speak for yourself. People research things as far as their interest takes them. Some topics I'll just settle for half an hour, some I'll spend weeks or months on.

The people who just use Wikipedia and call it a day are those who probably wouldn't have even bothered to learn anything if the internet didn't exist. Which is better? Basic knowledge or no knowledge at all?

The people who want to make a subject their life go and study it as a job.

Those who want to learn in depth about a subject can start online, get to pretty much PhD level in many areas while still exclusively using the internet, then if they feel they want to can start reading current journals, speaking to experts etc. Though again, that can be done through the internet.

If I were to ask you to explain, say, sputter coating to me where would you start? Would you go to the library or would you google it and start there? And if I kept asking more and more in depth questions what would you do? Would you continue to research it online or would you sign up to university and do a course on it?

I think the stick which was not made out of chalk had more to do with it; Also most people were simple workers, only the best were able to learn anything; It's a change of attitude not because of different tools
>>
>>126236415
>Those who want to learn in depth about a subject can start online, get to pretty much PhD level in many areas

You're deluded.

Without the internet how are you going to know what to protest about? Like this complete idiot >>126235681 the most common obstacle I come across here is people instinctively retreating to the 50s and thinking the world is the same. It simply isn't. In poor schools you didn't have access to books. Information also changes much quicker. In fact even if we could march down to the town centre to threaten to string up the magistrate if he doesn't give us cheap bread, it never really worked back then either! We no longer have assets to take back under control either.

>>126235677
>. But they can simply read through a few wikipedia pages and get a half decent understanding
>half decent

Dude, I have a history of Charles I that's in three fuck-off volumes. Churchill's history of Marlborough is four volumes and is 2,000 total pages, a book just about Suez that's nearly 600 pages. Nothing about wikipedia is even close to "half decent" for an understanding within a context of learning.

Why are you desperate to prove we're more cucked than Germany? I'm not saying we're in good shape but we just had the biggest channel air a harrowing show about paki rape that everyone is talking about.

I don't see how the internet is any more distracting than anything else. I have music open in one tab and a few other tabs open on what I'm reading about. Unless I'm working or just shitposting and watching videos it's very rare that I'm not learning something while at my PC.
>>
>>126236186
Yup
>>126236415
No, I just know Wikipedia is literally written by anyone who wants it enough. It's garbage and only good for trivia tier knowledge.

>>126236582
He's not wrong though. I think you just don't know enough about said people to understand how much they got done in such little time.
He's exactly right. Adults now going to top universities to learn how to do things these people taught themselves how to do from a young age.
>>
>>126236568
I was emphasizing that teams of people are trained to go in Wikipedia and edit it. In this case Jews, editing anything non-kosher.

Again. I'm just saying we're not as bad as Germany. I know that must upset you for some reason but it's true mate.

Some children aged 12 can do complex astro physics now. I can do more complex mathematics with a computer code. A bit more useful than fucking Latin you retard.

What the fuck are you talking about cunt? It was fucked in the 50's too.

You're just a spaz who doesn't understand because he's only ever used the net to learn.

And all you have learnt is trivia tier pub quiz knowledge

You are underestimating the power of crowdsourcing.
>>
>>126236926

Almost no-one used to go to university.

Now it has to be able to accommodate completely mediocre, or even below average individuals because of leftist educate everyone memes, no wonder standards have slipped.

>>126237165
What about hiding wealth in offshore accounts? Manipulating financial markets in the most complex ways? You going to hear that down the street?
>>
>>126236659
You honestly have no idea about the internet do you lad?

You can read so many theses and all of their sources online. Therefore you're learning to PhD level. Depending on the subject you may be missing out on physical aspects of course, but the information is there. Even something like Khan Academy can get you pretty fucking far.

>>126236693
So you have one source on Charles I. The internet has thousands of sources with all of that information and more. That very book may even be on the internet.

There are more places on the internet than Wikipedia...

No, you simply don't understand that Wikipedia articles can be bought and edited as you wished if you put enough effort into doing so.

Do some research first next time before posting

>>126237264
Yeah not many were as educated, but the ones who were, were educated to a better level and it seems like they knew HOW to self teach, and they were very good at it.

As I said, now even top unis take years teaching things that could take weeks/months because they have to accommodate for the slowest person in the room, and even if it's a "top uni", they still accept stupid cunts who can't really grasp knowledge as much as they can regurgitate it in an exam
>>
>>126237343
>So you have one source on Charles I

No, I have hundreds. It's called a bibliography.
>>
>>126237343
>Khan Academy
Lmao, shows how stupid you are.
It's literally trivia tier knowledge.

Even the online "courses" you can do are pretty much dumbed down to the maximum
>>
>>126237012
Oh I see what you're saying. Yeh Wikipedia has its issues though if you're reading science, engineering etc then it's generally pretty spot on. But the be all and end all of online learning isn't Wikipedia.

>>126236926
>He thinks every child spoke Latin and did university tier maths
>He doesn't know anything about literacy rates over time

>>126237187
If you have the sort of mind that's easily distractable then that's fair enough, I'm pretty good with focus. And for me learning is better when I can dip in and out and dart about from source to source and do side learning to assist with the main topic.

If you can't sit and not log onto facebook or whatever other shit you do for a few hours while reading then that's your issue. Not everybody is that way, and even if they do get distracted, lots of people are able to maintain focus.

I get you're point if I'm speaking to someone who has only been or about to go to Uni. When you get an researched based job you realise you're education never ends. The idea of doing anything I do without the internet, or the much more talented professionals around me, is absurd.

And you have all those books at your fingertips do you? Or your lcal library has every single one of them? And the journals?

>>126237716
I said 'even something like KA can get you pretty fucking far'. I'm quite sure that 95% of people could further their knowledge using that site, I'd say that's a good start.

I'd suggest I could ask you some questions at the learning level of that site and you wouldn't have a fucking clue what the answer was. Therefore it's a good learning tool for you. If you want to go further using other sources, you can.

How are you not getting this?
>>
>>126237573
>articles can be bought and edited as you wished if you put enough effort into doing so.
which can happen with every other book or source; It's not a question wether a single information can be corrupted if one puts enough effort into doing so; you have to look at the amount and quality of all information overall and there wikipedia beats the old fashioned way by far.

>The idea of doing anything I do without the internet, or the much more talented professionals around me, is absurd.

This. You'd be hard pressed to find any PhD or other researcher that doesn't use the internet for research. Often they'll have to go offline to further that, but it's always a good starting point and will pretty much always get you a fair distance.
>>
>>126237971
I don't have to read them. That's the point of a bibliography.

But considering that most of those sources are centuries old archives tucked away in vaults, they're not on the web either.
>>
>>126237748

Dumb cunt.

>>126237748
>Lots of people are able to maintain focus.
So name a genius who used the internet to study then. I'm still waiting...
You just said some soundbite bullshit but it's obviously bullshit since the biggest complaint I hear people saying is that there are too many distractions on the internet.
Stop pretending you don't get distracted.

>>126237971
>How are you not getting this?
Because what takes you fucking weeks on Khan Academy or similar, takes you literally minutes using traditional learning methods instead of fancy games and stupid shit similar to that.

>>126238034
I disagree. There are reviews for books probably written by people who are knowledgeable on the subject, etc. There are no reviews for Wikipedia pages or edits and if there were, they'd be written by some clown most likely.
