Quit swallowing commie propaganda. The Vietnamese people were not supportive of the Hanoi government, the Tet offensive shows this damn well. A more aggressive posture out the outset would have brought them down and there's nothing Russia or China would have done about it.

It's hard to pinpoint mentally what traits would pass on for winning a war, but physically, if you were the biggest, baddest, fastest, strongest, most clever of the bunch, that's shit that will definitely pass.

That being said, my buddies dad went into Vietnam at 15. lied about his age. Spent the entire war there. 1965 -75 Never came home. Survived the entire thing as a Rooster without any serious wounds.

Guy is fucking nuts. He had his son, my old highschool buddy who is a fucking maniac. Probably has more to do with living in the same household as that batshit insane fucker, but part of me thinks 10 years of horrific war changed him on a biological level. Probably not though.
