>the eucharist is a symbol
"This food we call the Eucharist, of which no one is allowed to partake except one who believes that the things we teach are true, and has received the washing for forgiveness of sins and for rebirth, and who lives as Christ handed down to us. For we do not receive these things as common bread or common drink; but as Jesus Christ our Savior being incarnate by God's Word took flesh and blood for our salvation, so also we have been taught that the food consecrated by the Word of prayer which comes from him, from which our flesh and blood are nourished by transformation, is the flesh and blood of that incarnate Jesus."

"First Apology", Ch. 66, inter A.D. 148-155.

"God has therefore announced in advance that all the sacrifices offered in His name, which Jesus Christ offered, that is, in the Eucharist of the Bread and of the Chalice, which are offered by us Christians in every part of the world, are pleasing to Him."

"Dialogue with Trypho", Ch. 117, circa 130-160 A.D.

Moreover, as I said before, concerning the sacrifices which you at that time offered, God speaks through Malachias, one of the twelve, as follows: 'I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord; and I will not accept your sacrifices from your hands; for from the rising of the sun until its setting, my name has been glorified among the gentiles; and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a clean offering: for great is my name among the gentiles, says the Lord; but you profane it.' It is of the sacrifices offered to Him in every place by us, the gentiles, that is, of the Bread of the Eucharist and likewise of the cup of the Eucharist, that He speaks at that time; and He says that we glorify His name, while you profane it."

-"Dialogue with Trypho", [41: 8-10]

It's not, but the only reason you question it is because of Catholics murderous rampages against anything they disagreed with or who didn't pay. Surely, that's what Jesus taught.

The Age of Enlightenment was preceded by and closely associated with the scientific revolution.[8] Earlier philosophers whose work influenced the Enlightenment included Francis Bacon, René Descartes, John Locke and Baruch Spinoza.[9] The major figures of the Enlightenment included Cesare Beccaria, Voltaire, Denis Diderot, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, David Hume, Adam Smith, and Immanuel Kant. Some European rulers, including Catherine II of Russia, Joseph II of Austria and Frederick II of Prussia, tried to apply Enlightenment thought on religious and political tolerance, which became known as enlightened absolutism.[10] Benjamin Franklin visited Europe repeatedly and contributed actively to the scientific and political debates there and brought the newest ideas back to Philadelphia. Thomas Jefferson closely followed European ideas and later incorporated some of the ideals of the Enlightenment into the Declaration of Independence (1776). Others like James Madison incorporated them into the Constitution in 1787.[11]

The Bible was written by men. The Bible was copied and handed down through the ages by men. The Bible was collected by men, chapterized by men, versified by men. The Bible was translated by men. The Bible is read and interpreted by men. Good thing those men are the Church founded and led by Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn't come to give us a book. He came to give us a Church.

p. 182 "Although Luther regarded justification as an essentially unitary process, he nevertheless introduced a decisive break with the western theological tradition as a whole by insisting that, through his justification, man is intrinsically sinful yet extrinsically righteous."
p. 184 "The significance of the Protestant distinction between justification and regeneration is that a fundamental discontinuity has been introduced into the western theological tradition where none had existed before. Despite the astonishingly theological diversity of the late medieval period, a consensus relating to the nature of justification was maintained throughout. The Protestant understanding of the nature represents a theological novum, whereas its understanding of its mode does not."

p. 36 "Augustine demonstrates of iustitia, effected only through man's justification, demonstrates how the doctrine of justification encompasses the whole of Christian existence from the first moment of faith through the increase in righteousness before God and man, to the final perfection of that righteousness in the eschatological city. Justification is about being made just."

Justification is about being made just."

p. 185 "The medieval period was astonishingly faithful to the teaching of Augustine on the question of the nature of justification, where the reformers departed from it."

p. 186 "The essential feature of the Reformation doctrines of justification is that a deliberate and systematic distinction is made between justification and regeneration. Although it must be emphasized that this distinction is purely notional, in that it is impossible to separate the two within the context of the ordo sautis, THE ESSENTIAL POINT IS THAT A NOTIONAL DISTINCTION IS MADE WHERE NONE HAD BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BEFORE IN THE HISTORY OF CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE. A FUNDAMENTAL DISCONTINUITY WAS INTRODUCED INTO THE WESTERN THEOLOGICAL TRADITION WHERE NONE HAD EVER EXISTED, OR EVER BEEN CONTEMPLATED BEFORE. The Reformation understanding of the nature of justification - as opposed to its mode - must be regarded as a genuine theological novum."

p. 182 " Although Luther regarded justification as an essentially unitary process, he nevertheless introduced a decisive break with the western theological tradition as a whole by insisting that, through his justification, man is intrinsically sinful yet extrinsically righteous."

separated from God and sent to hell.

20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 21 "You have heard that it was said to the men of old, 'You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.' 22 But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire.
Matthew 5:29-30 – Talking metaphorically Jesus says if a thing causes you to sin, it is better off to cut off body parts than suffer going to hell.
29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell . 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell .
Matthew 6:13-15 – If we are unforgiving we will lose God’s forgiveness.
13 And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 10:28 – We must have the fear of God, who can send us to hell over disobedience.
28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 12:32 – A sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven by God.
32 And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

I have a thesis for you. If the writings of St. Paul teach that justification is by faith alone, then the Roman Catholic Church is apostate, and Protestantism is true.
Let's test this theory:
And to the one that does not work, but believes in him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness, just as David speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works; "Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin"

Luther outright removed the three deuterocanonical books because they support the doctrine of Purgatory.

He also wanted to remove Hebrews, James, Jude, and Revelation as well because they totally discredit his doctrines, but his followers stopped him.

So much for Sola Scriptura.

Romans 6:12-13, 16 – Sin can again reign in our body, it is possible to fall back into slavery to sin.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions. 13 Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but yield yourselves to God as men who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness…16 Do you not know that if you yield yourselves to any one as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
Romans 8:12-13 – We will spiritually die if we live according to the flesh.
12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-- 13 for if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.
Romans 11:20-22 – If we do not continue in God’s kindness we will get cut off.
20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only through faith. So do not become proud, but stand in awe. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. 22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off.

Is there any good arguments for Roman Catholicism over Eastern Orthodoxy? Especially when you look at the state of the church today and how much drama/dysfunction there has been within the Latin church throughout history. Catholics are Christian as well as Orthodox, but which system is correct? Was a universal pope really a good idea? Especially mandating celibate priesthood, I feel more sympathy for the Eastern church especially when the Latin bishop tried to enforce these novel and arguably quite damaging traditions over the entire church.

The Didache

"You shall not waver with regard to your decisions [Sir. 1:28]. Do not be someone who stretches out his hands to receive but withdraws them when it comes to giving [Sir. 4:31]" (Didache 4:5 [ca. A.D. 70]).

Pseudo-Barnabas

"Since, therefore, [Christ] was about to be manifested and to suffer in the flesh, his suffering was foreshown. For the prophet speaks against evil, 'Woe to their soul, because they have counseled an evil counsel against themselves' [Isa. 3:9], saying, 'Let us bind the righteous man because he is displeasing to us' [Wis. 2:12.]" (Epistle of Barnabas 6:7 [ca. A.D. 74]).

Clement

"By the word of his might [God] established all things, and by his word he can overthrow them. 'Who shall say to him, "What have you done?" or who shall resist the power of his strength?' [Wis. 12:12]" (Epistle to the Corinthians 27:5 [ca. A.D. 80]).

Irenaeus

"Those . . . who are believed to be presbyters by many, but serve their own lusts and do not place the fear of God supreme in their hearts, but conduct themselves with contempt toward others and are puffed up with the pride of holding the chief seat [Matt. 23:6] and work evil deeds in secret, saying 'No man sees us,' shall be convicted by the Word, who does not judge after outward appearance, nor looks upon the countenance, but the heart; and they shall hear those words to be found in Daniel the prophet: 'O you seed of Canaan and not of Judah, beauty has deceived you and lust perverted your heart' [Dan. 13:56]. You that have grown old in wicked days, now your sins which you have committed before have come to light, for you have pronounced false judgments and have been accustomed to condemn the innocent and to let the guilty go free, although the Lord says, 'You shall not slay the innocent and the righteous' [Dan. 13:52, citing Ex. 23:7]" (Against Heresies 4:26:3 [ca. A.D. 190]; Dan. 13 is not in the Protestant Bible).

Irenaeus

"Jeremiah the prophet has pointed out that as many believers as God has prepared for this purpose, to multiply those left on the earth, should both be under the rule of the saints and to minister to this [new] Jerusalem and that [his] kingdom shall be in it, saying, 'Look around Jerusalem toward the east and behold the joy which comes to you from God himself. Behold, your sons whom you have sent forth shall come: They shall come in a band from the east to the west. . . . God shall go before with you in the light of his splendor, with the mercy and righteousness which proceed from him' [Bar. 4:36- 5:9]" (ibid. 5:35:1 [ca. A.D. 190]; Baruch was often reckoned as part of Jeremiah, as it is here).

1 Corinthians 3:13-17 – Judgment of our works, we will be destroyed by God if we destroy God’s temple.

13 each man's work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. 16 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? 17 If any one destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and that temple you are.
1 Corinthians 6:8-11 – Corinthian believers are acting sinfully. Such actions, including immorality, lead to our disinheritance. We are deceived if we think otherwise.
8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud, and that even your own brethren. 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

"What is narrated here [in the story of Susannah] happened at a later time, although it is placed at the front of the book [of Daniel], for it was a custom with the writers to narrate many things in an inverted order in their writings. . . . [W]e ought to give heed, beloved, fearing lest anyone be overtaken in any transgression and risk the loss of his soul, knowing as we do that God is the judge of all and the Word himself is the eye which nothing that is done in the world escapes. Therefore, always watchful in heart and pure in life, let us imitate Susannah" (Commentary on Daniel 6 [A.D. 204]; the story of Susannah [Dan. 13] is not in the Protestant Bible).

Cyprian

"So Daniel, too, when he was required to worship the idol Bel, which the people and the king then worshipped, in asserting the honor of his God, broke forth with full faith and freedom, saying, 'I worship nothing but the Lord my God, who created the heaven and the earth' [Dan. 14:5]" (Epistles 55:5 [A.D. 252]; Dan. 14 is not in the Protestant Bible).

Cyprian

"In Genesis [it says], 'And God tested Abraham and said to him, "Take your only son whom you love, Isaac, and go to the high land and offer him there as a burnt offering . . . "' [Gen 22:1-2] . . . Of this same thing in the Wisdom of Solomon [it says], 'Although in the sight of men they suffered torments, their hope is full of immortality . . .' [Wis. 3:4].

11Do not say: “It was God’s doing that I fell away,

for what he hates he does not do.

12Do not say: “He himself has led me astray,”

for he has no need of the wicked.

13Abominable wickedness the LORD hates

and he does not let it happen to those who fear him.

14God in the beginning created human beings

and made them subject to their own free choice.

15If you choose, you can keep the commandments;

loyalty is doing the will of God.

16Set before you are fire and water;

to whatever you choose, stretch out your hand.

17Before everyone are life and death,

whichever they choose will be given them.e

18Immense is the wisdom of the LORD;

mighty in power, he sees all things.

19The eyes of God behold his works,

and he understands every human deed.

20He never commands anyone to sin,

nor shows leniency toward deceivers.

lol Catholics. The Bible says none can forgive sins but Jesus! But wait Mary can too. Call no man on earth father! But ask your local"Father" to forgive your sins. Do worship god as the pagans do! But here, use these prayer beads and pay for indulgences, also bow before this picture of "Jesus". Do not pray to the dead! Unless they're a saint or christs mother. Catholicism is the whore of Babylon that is seated upon seven hills, Vatican City. Islam is the beast that will behead if you do not bow to the image that is Mecca. The fallen star in Mecca, a literal image of Satan. It is the cornerstone of the black tent as Jesus is the cornerstone of the church. The beast will hate the whore and tear her flesh, just as Islam has hated Catholicism for centuries. Remember the crusades. Remember constantinople. The beast will sit in the temple of god and claim to be god. The dome of the rock sits in place of the holy temple site TODAY where allah is worshiped day and night, claiming to be the one true God of Abraham. Denying Christ is the son and died on the cross. How are people so blind?

I prayed [to the Angel of Repentance, who is called the Shepherd] much that he would explain to me the similitude of the field…And he answered me again, saying, “Every one who is the servant of God, and has his Lord in his heart, asks of Him understanding, and receives it, and opens up every parable; and the words of the Lord become known to him which are spoken in parables. But those who are weak and slothful in prayer, hesitate to ask anything from the Lord; but the Lord is full of compassion, and gives without fail to all who ask Him. But you, having been strengthened by the holy Angel, and having obtained from Him such intercession, and not being slothful, why do not you ask of the Lord understanding, and receive it from Him?” I said to him, “Sir, having you with me, I am necessitated to ask questions of you, for you show me all things, and converse with me; but if I were to see or hear these things without you, I would then ask the Lord to explain them.”

Priests don't forgive sins, they're a witness. From an Orthodox view, confession is not about forgiveness from God as he isn't bound to a priest to here peoples repentance, but it's about apologizing to your fellow man and community because sin hurts everyone around you and it's unhealthy to repress everything inside you. Jesus told us to confess our sins to eachother, the church gives people the sacrament of confession so that people will grow spiritually and morally. The problem with protestantism is that it's too easy to justify everything you do

"Latin Mass" basically doesn't exist outside of Rome. Stop getting your ideas of Catholicism from anime.

Also, you haven't even been fucking baptized? Your mom should be ashamed of herself, and her and her family aren't very Catholic at all if they let that happen.

No mother remotely serious about Catholicism would let their child go unbaptized, you have no idea how seriously fucked that is. You might be overestimating your family's religiosity.

Does no one have the balls to even comment on the fact that Islam and allah are the beast of revelation? The 7 heads are 7 kingdoms. The 7th will be mortally wounded but will rise again. The 7th is also the 8th. The Ottoman Empire fell in 1922, but a new Muslim empire is well on its way. Look at Europe. Look at the forced normalization of Islam and the forced acceptance. Look at the Middle East and the rise of Islam, for the first time since Christ there is a religion that is rising faster than Christianity. It is taking over. Our days are numbered. 27) The painter, then, on the first day made an outline of [John the Apostle] and went away…later John…went into the bedchamber, and saw the portrait of an old man crowned with garlands, and lamps and altars set before it. And he called him and said: Lycomedes, what meanest thou by this matter of the portrait? can it be one of thy gods that is painted here? for I see that thou art still living in heathen fashion. And Lycomedes answered him: My only God is he who raised me up from death with my wife: but if, next to that God, it be right that the men who have benefited us should be called gods -it is thou, father, whom I have had painted in that portrait, whom I crown and love and reverence as having become my good guide.
(28) And John who had never at any time seen his own face said to him: Thou mockest me, child: am I like that in form, [excelling] thy Lord? how canst thou persuade me that the portrait is like me? And Lycomedes brought him a mirror. And when he had seen himself in the mirror and looked earnestly at the portrait, he said: As the Lord Jesus Christ liveth, the portrait is like me: yet not like me, child, but like my fleshly image; for if this painter, who hath imitated this my face, desireth to draw me in a portrait, he will be at a loss…

The Apostles were Catholics, not Protestants.

They couldn't have been Protestants, because Protestantism is based on sola scriptura, which was impossible for the Apostles because the NT hadn't been written yet.

Also, on the topic of my mother and her lack of faith, it boils down to this; she was a flower child raised in the 70's who quickly moved to California after turning 18, where she attended college and subsequently lost her faith in its entirety.

She struggles with what she believes today.

I agree.

Revelation has the "Beast from the Earth," which will mark the followers of the the Antichrist and the False Prophet with the Mark of the Beast.

Islam has the "Beast of the Earth," which will mark the foreheads of the true followers of Isa ("Jesus") and Mahdi. They consider the Beast a good figure.

But the Pope wasn't speaking dogmatically when he said that Muslims have the same God as Christians so your point is moot.

But since we are persuaded that we must give an account of all our life here to God who made us and the world, we adopt a temperate, generous, despised way of life. For we think that, even if we lose our lives, we shall suffer here no evil to be compared with the reward we shall receive from the great Judge for a gentle, generous, and modest life (A Plea Regarding Christians by Athenagoras, ch.12).

No, because Jesus specifically commissioned those people (the apostles) to preach in His Name / communicate His teaching. They were ordained and sent for that purpose.

>and that that written work is the only foundation of the church.

The foundation of the Church is not the written work. It is the authority of the apostles (who wrote said works), especially Peter, whom Christ calls the "rock" (i.e. foundation) of His church.

Haven't been to mass in a decade plus. Kind of tried a couple of decent enough, but way more low-key churches. I miss the respect, and my concern is that's what bothers me so much about some other churches.

In catholic churches, guys wear nice sweaters, slacks etc. Women in proper women stuff. Comparatively many of the other churches I have seen have people bringing God about the amount of respect they'd take to a 7-11 with their kids going nutz etc.

It's nice being amongst civilized people. You don't think you miss it until you're not around it as often. Used to think the trip was boring and stuffy, now I miss it like crazy.

Now supplication and plea and thanksgiving may be offered to people without impropriety. Two of them, namely pleading and thanksgiving, might be offered not only to saints but to people alone in general, whereas supplication should be offered to saints alone, should there be found a Paul or a Peter, who may benefit us and make us worthy to attain authority for the forgiveness of sins.

What's astounding is that the Church of Rome is the only church in the entire world that can trace its lineage directly back to any apostle at all; and not only to any apostle, but to Peter himself. No other church can produce a list of names that goes from Apostle -> current day successor, like the Church of Rome.

Ah, then for you, although I will recommened some books, getting back in to the habit of praying is most important. Commit to saying your morning & night prayers (sounds easy, but you'll be surprised how often you think 'can't be bothered').

Go back to mass. Sit at the back & semi-hide if you must, but get back in to the routine of going. It may turn out (sadly, they do exist) you end up at a mass with a cuck priest. Try another one. The churches here are latin masses, & they are very, very rarely liberal http://www.ecclesiadei.org/masses.cfm. So try one of those if you don't like your closest parish.

>an Eastern Father
>And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

God gives eternal life through faith, not works. Because that life is eternal, it will not be revoked. For God to do so would be to go against His character.

I was very forthright with the individual I spoke with who scheduled my meeting at the Church next week and everything your saying contradicts their very welcoming and understanding view of the circumstances in which I have grown up with.

To belittle means to put down, or to make another person feel as though they aren't important. That is what you're doing when you vomit up statements such as...

>I'm not belittling you. I'm telling you your mom and your extended family didn't care enough about you going to heaven to get you baptized.

It's not that my mother didn't care enough about me. It's that she didn't understand the importance of faith and God.

20 So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 6 1 Working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain. 2 For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation." Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
2 Corinthians 11:2-3 – Even though betrothed to Christ we can be led away from Him by the devil.
2 I feel a divine jealousy for you, for I betrothed you to Christ to present you as a pure bride to her one husband. 3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
2 Corinthians 13:5 – If we fail to meet the test, we will no longer have Christ in us.

"Consider how contrary to the mind of God are the heterodox in regard to the grace of God which has come to us. They have no regard for charity, none for the widow, the orphan, the oppressed, none for the man in prison, the hungry or the thirsty. They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not admit that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, the flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in His graciousness, raised from the dead."

"Letter to the Smyrnaeans", paragraph 6. circa 80-110 A.D.

"Come together in common, one and all without exception in charity, in one faith and in one Jesus Christ, who is of the race of David according to the flesh, the son of man, and the Son of God, so that with undivided mind you may obey the bishop and the priests, and break one Bread which is the medicine of immortality and the antidote against death, enabling us to live forever in Jesus Christ."

Learn about the early church fathers alongside reading the bible, also study church history and what Christians have believed for thousands of years both from the east and west. 15) before there was a "true church" there was matthew luke thomas mark and john, their gospels appear before any mentioning of a church.
16) Catholics have a nasty habit of venerating "church fathers" over the scripture of the bible itself, which sounds a lot like Talmudic Judaism which venerates the rabbis of the Talmud over the Torah itself. the Kaarite Judaic sect is a very interesting one.
17) the manner of exorcisms performed by the catholic church are forms of witchcraft and spell casting
18) the catholic church regularly attacks the scripture, claming "they are useful but not entirely accurate" Francis has come out saying that genesis is not true, and several catholic scholars have discounted books like Esther
19) the catholic church regularly blasphemes the lord Jesus Christ to say "the church is the only place for salvation" takes away from the fact there is only salvation in the teachings of Christ

-"Letter to the Ephesians", paragraph 20, c. 80-110 A.D.

But Protestants pride themselves on "following" the first Christians because you believe the Catholic Church "became apostate", "went rouge", "became pagan" or one of the endless conspiracy theories you people believe

This is in Against Heresies by Saint Irenaeus, who was taught by st. Polycarp who was taught by St. ohn the Aopstle.

There are also those who heard from him that John, the disciple of the Lord, going to bathe at Ephesus, and perceiving Cerinthus within, rushed out of the bath-house without bathing, exclaiming, "Let us fly, lest even the bath-house fall down, because Cerinthus, the enemy of the truth, is within." And Polycarp himself replied to Marcion, who met him on one occasion, and said, "Do you know me?" "I do know you, the first-born of Satan."

I have no problem with you satanists literally being burned at the stake, if the Vatican takes over Europe again I wont stop them

I came to Christianity after studying witchcraft. and you can't refute a single one of my points. the catholic church kept the bible from the common people for a thousand years, and executed anyone who tried to read it in English. and most of the people killed in the inquisitions over europe were innocent Christians.

Neither of those say God takes away salvation.

Okay, so when does a saved person get their salvation revoked? When there thoughts are led astray? If a person believes then chooses not to believe and dies, do they get sent to hell? Can a person who believes even choose not to believe in the first place?
