We often said this in this long lasting war, even in their darkest, events always turned out to be in their outcome in the way Syria wanted them to be.

Finally, we've read some utterly disturbing comments about the Syrian allies, specifically Russia, we can't say better than an example, remember the ceasefires before liberating Aleppo? On this page, we told you do not look at the events as separate, but look at a bigger picture, at the end, the Syrian troops and allies liberated Aleppo without a single offensive statement before, and those who went on and on about how "mighty" they are and about forcing Syria to stop were incapably of doing anything save their mercenaries.

Idlib is too far for their comfort zone, they might be eager to go to Idlib but its pretty far from Iraq. Their leader (almohandis) specifically said that they will stop any attempt to divide Syria and will engage the forces that do that. I assume this is for the SDF.
Them being closer to the Iraqi border allows them to establish bases close to their country, while the SAA can deal with Idlib. Also it doesnt make Assad look like the bad guy incase the kurds give up.

To bring in more troops, weapons etc. Theyre also more familar with the areas and terrain and people living by the border would be friendlier to them.
Its just a case of where the PMU would be more useful, the Syrian govt is more familiar to Idlib and its closer to Damascus for them to bring in supplies and other equip.
Also, Birzani and his Peshmerga have worked with the PMU, so they can help to secure that Iraqi border as well. Birzani doesnt like these PKK/YPG kurds.
