privatized healthcare is a negative sum game. health insurance is an industry employing millions of people, but the industry itself doesn't need to exist. the cost of health insurance professionals' employment is shifted onto the population as a whole, because they buy insurance. this results in massive unnecessary bureaucratic overhead. also, hospitals and insurers have to debate prices. and hospitals are incentivized to overprescribe (which leads to, for instance, the opiod epidemic).

denying people coverage increases the cost of healthcare as a whole, because preventative measures will not be provided, and providing free preventative measures saves money. e.g., free breast cancer screening means significantly less spent on chemotherapy. but if you get breast cancer that could've been caught early, you're still going to get the treatment and then default on your medical debt, so society still pays for the treatment regardless.

i'm not really concerned with the egalitarian pricing so much as i'm concerned with fiscal responsibility. obviously a private system could work, perhaps more efficiently, but the insurance companies buy politicians and america's right wing isn't interested in reducing the overall cost of healthcare so much as it is voting for their donors. the left obviously is still bought and paid for (the entire theatre is at this point). i miss the progressive conservative party in canada.

I think we can agree it is instinctual to gravitate towards people who are more like us. Humans are a pack/tribal species after all. One of the easiest and most clear ways to notice people who are like you is skin color.

The first is that the nazi shit is kind of embarrassing. Somewhat arrogantly I agree Germans are superior at some things (especially engineering and science). Whether this is influenced by genetics, culture or a combination of both though is less clear. Nonetheless it's sad that relatively few people are proud about being of German decent (at least in polite) conversation. This is in contrast to the Irish, Italians, Jews and so on. I think there is likely a way forward to be proud about being German, but I don't think it is through embracing a failed German political party. I've thought about this for years and don't really expect to find the answer on pol. In any case, I agree with the sentiment (of the nazi fags) but the approach seems tone deaf and counter productive.
