The western suburbs on the island of Montreal are almost entirely English speaking, while the rest of the island is mostly bilingual and the off island suburbs are predominantly french.

Pros:
Great food if you know where to go i.e. gastronomically excellent food comparable to what can be found in Europe $$$.

Good music I guess if you give a shit.

Cons:
Literally everything else. Cosmopolitan shithole - multikulti - shit roads. Shit weather most of the year. Corrupt - lots of wasted money going to organized crime. Absolutelt must be able to speak French to live here otherwise dont bother.

I think it's that they've had to cling to every bit of culture they can and have managed to keep certain neighbourhoods (and most of Quebec outside of Montreal) traditionally French. Toronto makes it easy to customize your life in almost limitless ways. It's a centre of leftism because every culture and subculture is present here.

Also while the city as a whole is expensive almost anyone can make it work and live in their preferred neighbourhood as long as they work full time and not for minimum wage.

The city is also very young, like packed with people in the 20-40 age bracket. Tons of ambitious people come here.

Overall it's actually quite underrated. The people are better looking and friendlier than their reputations would reflect. People here don't start conversations by asking how much money you make like they do in Vancouver. And they're generally interested in making connections and aren't closed off.
