Right/left is just a matter of economic policy with the right being more free economically and the left being more controlled economically.
The trick that the left has pulled was conflating the right with fascism and the like when in reality fascism is an economically left and therefore leftwing ideology.
It essentially means that they aren't wrong when they call libertarianism far right because it literally is but when they call it far right they're also tossing it in with all the other stuff that they've been calling right wing for decades. Interestingly enough however this has had an adverse effect in recent times where an increasingly libertarian youth is finding camaraderie with fascist movements and the like because the left has tossed them all into one big pile. As a result we're finding fascism and the like becoming far more popular than it otherwise would even under the same geo-political and economic circumstances that we find ourselves in now.

The reason why there is so much more talk about far-right parties at the moment is because there are actually more far-right parties currently in existence at the moment.
