If you eat a banana for example, lets say it weighs 100 grams. you will be able to adsorb all the short chain sugars, lipids, and crackable polypeptides, which will probably not add up to more than a couple of grams.

the vast majority of the solid mass of most foods is not absorbed. The only reason it appears you sbsorbed the majority of the bana is because most foods are mostly water, which is easily absorbed.

A steak would have a much higher percentage of protein which could be absorbed, but it would also have a more extensive matrix which can not easily be broken down and be absorbed. It would also have a lower proportion of water to be absorbed.
