I almost went to become a Chair Force Officer, but didn't because I thought Hillary would win, plus I make more money as a civilian. You're going to get pushed, but do your best 110% of the time, good luck and make Trump proud.

Rangers lead the way

My pop was in Charlie 3rd bat back in the 80s. Said Ranger school was the toughest thing he ever did, and that swamp phase is the worst part of it.

Good condition for Ranger school isn't the big musclebound guys, its those lithe guys that can don't eat much and can run for days

Shit is going to suck. Basic is kind of fun, RASP is a smoke fest, going to Ranger school is a fucking suck fest. Airborne is a nice little break and then battalion is alternating cool guy stuff and gay as fuck stuff.

You'll emerged having accomplished little with a false sense of worth but the conviction that somehow you are special for having done what tens of thousands of other men (and now women) have done. Don't forget to get all your accomplishments tattooed on you and purchase a hat on your way out so everyone knows not to be friends with you.

Right, I'm sure you're just being modest and all, but if you're "in pretty good physical condition" you need to fucking not. You are actively working towards getting your brothers killed in the field if you think pretty good shape is an acceptable standard for special forces.

I find that totally reprehensible, because I know you only want it for prestige and to be tacticool.

I just finished a 3 mile ruck and now I'm doing some tricep pushups.

What I did just before is a filled some milk jugs with sand and threw them in my backpack. I put that shit on and did a 3 mile road march. 0.7 miles to a point from my house and then back, twice.

Before that I did a 15 minute fast woods ruck where I ran/walked/jogged in the woods in uneven terrain with the same backpack. Today is my day off so I can do a lot more than usual. 2 rest days a week for recovery. Drink plenty of water. Eat healthy(er). And I stretch twice a day for 10 minutes per session. It helps so you don't fuck up your body.

http://www.military.com/military-fitness/workouts/stretching-plan

I've started 2 weeks ago and I can see some results. I plan to enlist in August so I have some time but not enough time to slack off. I estimate I could pull off a 7:15 mile (been mostly doing rucking) and maybe 50 pushups.

In addition to being physically fit you must also be mentally tough. Read "Unbeatable Mind" for starters. Simple shit like positive thinking and breathing techniques go a long way.

I'm just beginning my journey but if you have some more questions you can just ask and I could help you.

That sounds pretty good man. I havent been focusing too much on rucking, only running a shitton and pushups/crunches/gym shit. Good idea with the sand. I could never really think of a way to weigh down my backpack enough without just throwing boulders in it and fucking it up lel

RASP is after basic. He's going to have months of group workouts and fun activities to look forward to. I knew a guy who became a Ranger that couldn't do 20 push ups starting basic.

What the fuck? Mentality isn't going to help you drag 300-400 pounds of meat through a bullet shower. You need to be an animal for spec ops.

I'm not suggesting for him to keep being a pussy, I'm suggesting that he should use that brain that can't figure out how to weigh down a pack, and go back when he's not incapable.
>>
>>114983685
Completed Ranger Indoctrination Program back in 2003. It's called RASP now. Expect to get shit on and run ragged. Sleep deprivation and all that. Once you pass, if you pass you'll get sent down to a battalion. From there more training. You'll be fit enough by basic training if you really put forth the effort. Just make sure you refuse to quit and don't break any rules. It's all about intestinal fortitude and integrity.
>>
>>114988745
Can you elaborate more?
>>
>>114983685

A: Don't do it, trust me.

B: Wrong board. Try /k/
>>
>>114988022

Yeah you are basically entitled to a tryout. Just like any other 11B who can get a reasonable asvab and PT scores.
>>
>>114989228
Nigga shit ain't that hard once you've decided to do it. I carried an unconscious soldier off a mountain in Afghanistan at night with my 240 slung under my arm and I was not in great shape. Maybe like a 260 PT test.

Being mentally tough and just not giving a fuck about pain is way more important than being in shape.

listen to me guy. These numbers aren't hacking it. You need to be running at least 6 minute consecutive 2 miles to even be in the right condition to attempt RASP. Ruck with nothing lighter than 50lbs dry.
Run.
Run.
Then run some more.
Make sure you both get up to 65 PROPER pushups before you get to basic. Don't slack off during PT in Basic. Always push yourself as hard as you can. You get out of it what you put into it.
>>
>>114989975

There were lots of option 40 guys when I went to basic, the only one who lasted and went was the guy who topped 270 on his first PT test. Everyone else broke down mentally and didn't make it or got injured and dropped.

Make sure you're doing proper push-ups, all the way down.

>muh tradoc
>muh high standards

Damn this is just sad. Go check out the minimums for getting into all these operator schools. You show up with the minimum and you probably aren't going to do well but you don't need to be some freak beast. The schools are there to test and improve you.

Got a bunch of cool anecdotes though. We had an OGA guy rupture his Achilles in the mountains and walk another 3 miles to the exfil. Had a dude sprain every ligament in his foot and walk another 15 miles with a 150pound load. Had a dude literally climb a mountain on a broken leg. Guy went out regularly on patrol with a broken patella and even another dude rolled around for years on a reconstructed knee that he'd eventually get like 80% disability for because he couldn't sleep through the pain without medication. Pretty sure that isn't the tradoc standard but it's what happens when you've got a unit culture of sucking it the fuck up.
>>
>>114992279
>at least a 13:00 mile
I take it you meant 2 mile, but that's seriously expected. It might seem impossible right now, but as long as you push yourself in basic, you can crank sub-13 out like nothing. Always run in A group for agility runs even if you can't hang. Hang as long as you can, then fall out to the group behind them.

>6 pullups
You have to do 10 every time you go to chow. You'll be cranking those out in no time unless you're some sort of fat body.
>>
>>114983685
Work on running, rucking, pull ups, and self discipline to stay awake for days on end while being physically exhausted. I did 20 years in the Army. I am not Ranger qualified but I have many friends who are. It's highly demanding. No joke. Don't take it lightly. Good luck.
>>
is it possible to become fit enough for rangers or even spec ops within 4-5 years? Or is it something that if you have not been doing all life, youre hopeless (fitness that is)

Thanks for the input. And yes I did mean a 2 mile run sorry.

I've seen some shit dude. But if you want to re-enlist now after a break in service, you have to go to SFAS if you were infantry. It's the only way they'll let you back in, so that's good at least.

Okay. Big thing. U need thick skin. Do Not take their treatment of you personally. It's all a game. 72 days of hell post basic and airborne (I'm assuming ur going infantry in which case basic and AIT are combined) . Army and marine training is based on positive brainwashing. They break you apart physically and mentally to build you anew in the format needed. It's all part of the show. Play along and listen to their instruction well. It WILL save your ass in combat.

Stay focused.

Also do Not injure yourself unduly. Do Not hurt yourself. Stupid way to end your military career early. This especially applies at airborne school.

Also kiss food goodbye for approximately 6 months. Ranger school is notorious for heavy calorie control.

Once ur in take the first chance u get to go to air assault school. That and airborne plus ranger = a lot more money in ur paycheck.

Upper body strength not that needed. Especially for ranger. Push ups sit ups pull ups mang. All of it is muscle memory. They don't care if ur 300 club. They care if you can do 100 push ups etc in 2 minutes per category. Also basic training will help with this a lot. Ur gonna do a FUCK TON of PT.

>falling for the military infantry Jew
Why anon? Are you not good at anything else at all?

That's generally why people join military infantry, they can't do anything else in society or take on better roles.

Is it because you think it's "cool?" Anybody who has actually been infantry and seen real combat will tell you differently. Secondly, that's what the Jews want you to think. They fill your head with lies about how cool you'll be, how respected, how much it means to your country! When in the end we haven't fought a war for our country since ww2. You're just big business slave and killing machine.

Just think about it for a second. Why waste your life potentially dying for reasons that you don't even know? You think you know, they'll tell you how important your mission is and how special you are to your country - but - then again, the average Joe office worker contributes just as much to this country as you do, with less of a risk of dying and comes out ahead with more money.

Anybody can become a ranger, a marine, or whatever. It's not difficult. Being brainwashed is extremely easy to do and the physical part just comes with the repetition of those activities.

Don't fool yourself and fight for the jew.

You can't enlist for Ranger school. Even if it's in your contact they can remove it, especially if your not a PT stud. And all Ranger school gets you is just the tab, then you'll get orders for an Infantry in unit, is similar to getting airborne in your contact, it doesn't get you into a Ranger Battalion.Former Sapper here.

I'm ex British Army. Nine years as a combat engineer in the Royal Engineers.
I planted explosives and also disposed of them. EOD.
I worked with the Rangers on a joint US/UK team and other forces. They protected me as I went about my work.
It was dangerous and took time. You must have full concentration.
They are good lads. A bit gung ho and noisy. We were more sneaky and quiet.

Ass blasted infantry day detected.

This is why people think you're stupid. Notary recruiters are salesmen. It's why they have sales pitches and try to "convince" people to join.

Let me ask you this. Why not pick a non infantry roll? Such as something in the air force?

I believe the answer is because to do that you would have to have high intelligence. Your combat training to es you no job skills where as an engineering job would plus you get all the benefits.

Your r spouse is typical of someone who is brainwashed. It's like the kids in school "Oh yeah?! You're just afraid to do it!" To try to provoke others into whatever stupid act they want.

When I went to Basic, I couldn't do shit either.

I did a deployment with a regular Army unit, then I went to Battalion. When I went to Airborne, I had basically sat on my ass doing nothing for months and could barely PT. I just gutted the required pushups/situps/run so I could move on, each phase. After Airborne is RIP, I drank and didn't do shit in Airborne so I didn't get better. I gutted the pushups/situps/run/pullups so that I could pass each phase. That's all it takes. Eventually you get yourself into such a shape that you can gut things so your brothers don't die, but at that point I wasn't a Ranger so those things weren't a priority.

>>114991764
Not really. To be safe, yes.

>>114992443
18X is way more muddied than 11X. It's a numbers game.

How many SF Teams are in the Army?
How many Ranger Companies are in the Army?

It's better to think of SF teams as SEAL teams and Delta/ST6 as the graduate programs. Rangers sit in their own area between an ODA and Delta. While you have Privates who are not as proficient as your entry level team member, you have leadership to enforce standards on the 19 year old kids that each organization has.

ODA, 82nd, and 75th provide the bulk of people who try out and make it. I do know some guys who went straight from Battalion, but most don't actually succeed this way, or at least don't get selected.

As you would know, a lot of guys go from Battalion to an ODA because it's an easier life and easier for a family, etc. Most guys who "come from 75th" to CAG go that route.

So what you're saying is that you feel special and superior for what you do and you have a special NME you call people, the "others," who apparently "can't" do what you do? Or maybe they just don't want to.

But it's funny because that's how easy brainwashing is. Make someone feel like they are part of the superior group. Then they can reflect differing opinions as meaningless since they art holier than thou. Military guys all give off that vibe.

Your "honor" is just a useful tool for the government to make young, impressionable kids throw their lives away for the benefit of rich, powerful men. Your life is nothing but a tool, and funnily enough they teach you just that in the military. You are a tool to keep the comfy lives of the rich and powerful going.

Did 20 + years. 82nd, DI at Knox, ended up doing some secret squirrel stuff unrelated to hooah macho. Here's my advice for what its worth.

Basic sucks the first few weeks. It just does. Live with it. Nothing any Drill Sergeant or RI does to you is personal. It will feel personal, but it isn't. It is about weeding out the non performers and those who shouldn't be there. It is also about making you better. DIs and RIs are just human beings who survived and didn't quit long enough to be the guy doing the training and screening.

DO what you are told, when you are told, exactly how you are told. On un-timed events, don't hold anything back for the finish line - go all out until you are told to quit or your pass out. Have served with quite a few Rangers. Some are smart, some are dumb. Some are tough as nails and some - well how did they last as long as they did in Ranger Batt? They are just guys. So are you. Don't forget that.

Also, don't forget that you are in the end learning a skill set. Yeah, part of it is being able to run like a marathoner, hump a ruck all day and night, you know - the physical stuff. The other part is being proficient in your particular skill set. Never lose sight of the fact that you are training to be a top tier professional Soldier.

Finally, don't quit. Just don't. No matter how tired, cold, hungry, thirsty, hot, or exhausted you get, don't quit. The decision to give up, even internally is 100% mental.

Good luck.

Facta Non Verba

Most of the bears are well behaved and live off nuts and berries like they are supposed to. But one or two fancy themselves to be smarter than the average bear, and like to try and steal picnic baskets from parkgoers.

That's when the rangers need to step in and make sure bears stay away from campsites and cars and especially picnics so tourists can enjoy the park's natural beauty in peace.

Hard to get into actual ranger bat, but do it

You are enlisting infantry I take it? Make sure you get ranger in your contract or you are not going. 100% of infantry officers go.

I'll start by saying that Ranger Regiment is the best infantry unit in the US Army. On physical fitness, discipline, and hard work, they by far outperform the rest of comparable units. However, as far as intelligence or thinking outside the box, they aren't significantly ahead of the rest of the Army, and they don't even come close to what you'd find in a Special Forces unit. I know it's a sore subject for a lot of Rangers, but this really is exemplified by the whole Pat Tillman fiasco.

OP, I encourage you to look into the Special Forces route. As far as physical fitness, they meet or exceed Rangers while having far higher intelligence to boot. Additionally, they give you much more time off and also encourage a relaxed work environment free of dick measuring contests over rank.

>Tldr: Rangers= brawn, Special Forces= brain and brawn and bigboy rules

50 push ups and a 14+ minute 2 mile ain't gonna cut it. Do yourself a favor and boost that shit up to 80 push ups and a 13 min 2 mile by the time you go in. You want to be pushing 300 points on the scorecard by the time you finish basic but I advise you get your score that high now-or asap.

You don't get how they run zero day or the APFT...
Sure- the minum pushups are like fifty-two, but they are nit-picky, nearly slow-mo in two minutes, and the first thirty seconds are spent doing thirty push-ups just to get to get twelve to count...
>"eleven..."
>"eleven..."
>"eleven..."
(After ten successfully completed push-ups, they can fail you at 100+ "incorrectly" completed push ups after ten...)

It is not about the BASE standard ON PAPER.
You need to be a beast for the cadre to pass you.
If you are pulling bare minimum, then the cadre will f@#% you out, or you'll be peered out for not pulling your weight during patrols.

Sure, with the women "passing", I am sure that RANGER is closer to TRADOC, but there are still the innumerable fuck-fuck games that you seem to not know jack shit about, friend-o.

People who have never been in Regiment or that community are giving you bad information.

ODA's are not brain+brawn nor are Rangers brawn. These guys are literally meming you into being an idiot.

Here's the difference.

Do you want to train people and work with indigineous forces, while being highly trained in Tradoc schools?

Green Beret.

Do you want to do nighttime raids where you fly to the X, jump off the outboards on an MH-6, and breach a house within 5 seconds? Do you want to be an elite organization within JSOC who seized more power and influence during GWOT than any other organization?

Join Ranger Regiment.
>>
>>115006631
Not yet but that's my plan when I re-up. Go SFAS
>>
>>115006515
That's also an admirable route I've seen some guys do. You'll definitely be respected right off the bat in whatever group you go too not to mention the SF course will feel much easier from the experience you got in Ranger Regiment.

If you think Green Berets don't do nighttime raids, you definitely don't know about SF. The description you gave sounds like the same bs the Army recruitment website posts under the job description for special forces.

Like I said earlier, Rangers are the best infantry, but at the end of the day, they are infantry. They play the same fuck-fuck games and they have the same bobble headed NCOs screwing joe over. SF group members treat each other like brothers regardless of rank and the overall quality of living is just plain better.

CIF teams are the only ones doing raids by any standard JSOC would consider something a raid.

If you're implying CIF teams are somehow what every ODA is, I've got news for you.

That said, being on a CIF team may net you a few raids a deployment. Being in a Ranger Battalion will net you up to 400 raids a deployment. The rest of the ODAs are going to be doing patrols and getting blown up by IED's like...regular infantrymen. That's a scenario you won't run into when you're at a Ranger Battalion.
>>
>>115007983
The military is more non white than white. People who graduate college or have a trade make far more in their careers and retirement on average. (LOL STILL GETTING A PENTION IN 2017).

Sorry but 90% of military MOS will get you a job at Mcdonalds. Majority have no real transferable skills and thats why you needthe tax payer to still fund your schooling after you leave because youre mostly all retarded and need the government to hold your hand in life. Thats why you get highering preferences too!

Literally retards with 80 iqs pass the asvab. The military is a joke. While some smart people are needed its hordes and hordes of dumb fucks simpletons who would be working in fast food or homeless.

Pro tip

They will force you. Run with boots on on a trail if you can, preferably with a back pack on. You'll be carrying more in the rangers than you could possibly pack as a civilian too.
>>
>>114983685
You can expect to suffer every day a lot and eventually die on deployment because of a lack of experience and logistic skills, essentially having lived a very shitty life and ending. However, you can also expect that nobody is going to respect you as much as they should outside the military.
>>
>>115009023
I dont hate the military. I hate the current US military the most of those that make up of it. Its hard not too when you see the true faces of the leople that join and their real intentions. If you' really want SF then I'd go with an mos that will carry over when you put in a packet for SF. Like 11 series ,12 series 68 whiskey,13F. I guess just look up the list of SF jobs and pick one you'd like to shoot for although given the tame period we're in I doubt you're going to get much of a chance to do the real hooah hooah shit, but even so it's not a bad gig man.

Shoot for it. Start getting in good shape. You're going to want apt score of 300+ when you go SF
>>

>>
>>115010207
That's a reasonable fear to have. Before you enlist, I'd highly recommend doing some sort of training plan that's been looked over by someone who went through the course. I know there's a lot of resources out there ie books, forums or you could go to your local VFW/American Legion and see if there'd be anyone willing to give you some advice. Most guys would be more than happy to help you out.

Lol. My bestie went in as a medic to Iraq wanting that glamorous military life. First convoy the shitbird butterbar fucks up the lineup and puts medical last, orders him out of the ambulance to help some Iraqi cause he's being an ass. They drive over an IED literally 30 seconds later without him and shrapnel goes through his plate and into his spine and woke up in Walter-Reed a week and a half later. Obviously everyone in the ambalamps died.

>Grandpa went to WW2 in the 442nd as a minesweeper, PTSD hardcore with stories about friends vaporizing in front of him from Bouncing Betties and finding rice and ham stuck to him from their stomachs.

Other grandpa and granduncle was 442nd in Chosin. Granduncle told me he used to cry himself to sleep at night because his cousins and his brother were stuck 16mi ahead and he was in artillery listening to hell drop on them. Other grandpa used to wake up and find the imprints of Chinese hiding next to his .50 sandbags during the night, he was the last truck out, only survivor of his family and 3rd and last survivor of his unit because the Chinese massacred like wounded 30 when they attacked their medical trucks and shot his LT in the head. He just pushed the body out of the driver's seat and kept going.

Uncle talked about machinegunning NVA during a charge at his hill in Vietnam and begging them to stop attacking in Vietnamese and collect their wounded already because he couldn't stand what he was doing to them.

FIL talks about how every one burned to death in his M60 Patton except for him when they hit a mine because his commander and loader were blown forward by the impact and their bodies gave him enough time to drop out the driver's hatch and crawl to safety.

My friend is stuck on painkillers the VA won't give him and I've got reams of family photo albums of dead family and their friends. So fucking glad I didn't go and have a nice life. So is my family that survived.

Then your dumb ass nation will elect some stupid nigger as POTUS and congress will mandate open faggotry, trannies, and bitches in combat units, and they'll start a witch hunt and try to kick out any leader that opposes their bullshit, so you'll say "fuck it" and get out of the fucked up military and get a job as a contractor and trainer making more than you ever did in the military without the risk and for half the effort.
