Hi /po/. I saw these (more pics incoming) on our local christmas market, and was wondering if anybody here has a template for this model. Basically it's modular kirigami, and pretty similar to some of Philip Chapman-Bell's stuff, but he doesn't seem to have the same model in his gallery. The lampshades on the photos are lasercut plastic, but could be made from cardstock just as well.
Also, modular kirigami thread. Modular origami lampshades are welcome, too.
You can see the modules here, but I was too dumb to make a decent picture.
Basically it's just a rounded rectangle with those yin yang flaps, but I'm wondering about the exact dimensions / ratio of sides to make a proper spherical shape.
one of Philip's models
This one is pretty similar (same basic geometry), but not quite identical...

template
wait, I'm an idiot, it's not the same geometry... the lamps from the market alternate between 5 and 3 at the "joints", Philip's globes between 4 and 3...
Here's one with 5-3, but the flaps are different.
Alright... after a little research I found that this model >>547758
is an "IQ Lamp" or "IQ Puzzle Lamp", originally created in 1973 by the Danish designer Holger Strom.
And here it is.
>tfw this board is so slow that I managed to build my own version of the lamp before getting a single reply
Is there an origami forum/site which is more active? This is not the first thread I created here, and it seems it won't be the first to die without getting replies.
blue version...

Looks great! Do you have the patterns somewhere?

Thanks. Here's the template, you need 30 pieces for a regular globe, but there are plenty variations with different numbers of pieces.

pic with some variations, google "iq lamp" for more info
