Has anyone here made thousand cranes?
That looks like something id wanna try someday. Nice job
I did it a while for a wedding.
It was fun, but Jesus, 1000 is a waaay bigger number than you would think.
an actual cancer post
just timed, took me 2 and half minutes to fold a crane, haven't done it in ages so probably could be a bit quicker. Anyway that's over 40 hours for 1000 cranes,

Made it last summer, I did it in about 3-4 weeks.
But I think I could do it in about 5 days (if I did nothing but make cranes for 15 or so hours a day)

Do you have anything better to do in life
i've made them twice. second set was made in 28 days
I did it with a group once, for charity. Ten people make ten a day, for ten days.
Never actually got into the proper project, so to speak. But I have made so many cranes since high school that I wouldn't be surprised if I did reach 1k already.

Why would I waste paper doing that? I could make 1,000 different things.
>>528491
I folded near 600, however I gave them away, realising that the wish has fleeted once, and will never return.

;_;
No cranes.. But did made about 1500 flowers for my wife last spring for our wedding. This was about half of them.
>>530293
Wow, impressive. How long did that take you?
>>530293
This is amazing. I wanna do this for someone too one day. Good for you, man.
oddly yes, you get a lot of free time in class, and it doesn't take much to pay attention.

That's really, really sad, anon
Yup. That actually got me my first girlfriend.

Posture won't bother him..
Apple users don't have spines anyway.
Grew up in Los Alamos and heard the Sadoko story all the time. Never made 1000 cranes. Instead, folded 1056 sonobe modules, and built menger sponge

I saw this thread and I've started working towards 1,000. I'm about about 20 now, but I'm hopingg this goal will make me more diligent.
it won't
After reading the book "Sadako and the thousand paper cranes", I've tried to, but I never kept them, I still know how to make them and I think the amount I've made for people is probably the equivalent to 1000.
I've been working on making 1,000 cranes for about two months off and on. I'm at 600 currently. I think I'll have them finished by the new year.

That makes me smile
>>528491
I did 1001 for my wedding. Fiance said that it was tradition in Japan to fold that many for good luck.
It'll look good for decoration though. Took a couple of months just cause I didn't do it every day.

Autism
I made a thousand cranes about 2 years ago :). Was a lot of fun and a lot of work, it took me a few months.
Yes.
Perfect excuse for binge watching Netflix/whatever.
With a quite small piece of paper I could do one in about 90 seconds.

I started October 17 and finished today. Mostly comprised of newspaper, phone book pages, and wax baking sheets. I'm very impressed with myself that I was able to stick to it. Keep it up anons. It's worth it. I can't rightly say that I remember why I even did it, for I had started before I saw this thread, but it was a neat experience.

awesome. bless you and may your wish come true.
>>534332
Thanks to these little guys, my den now smells like newsprint.
>>534382
well then id say get rid of it and use some real origami paper
>>534384
Or I'll just hang it in the basement. It's not a bad smell, just, different.
damn it op
you just reminded me of having to read that book about the gook who had cancer or something, and i just kept making cranes in her hospital room.
>>530293
I did a similar thing for my wedding, I made 11 of these table centres. Probably around 6-700 flowers in total. The humming birds were a last minute afterthought
>>530293
this is beautiful. I am moved by your story and impressed by your color and paper choices... this looks very high quality and good taste
>>537508
clearly the original poster - take this shit somewhere else
I made 3 and put them on my speaker, first origami i ever did.
we did it for primary school
was pretty nice but sad for that jap girl who died
i'm in the process of it.
I'm writing my day plans on a post-it notes, so I'm doing one crane daily out of it and putting it on a pile. Writing a date and a signature on it always, some drawings and quotes sometimes. Planning to go through them sometime, one per day.
I'm patient.

Huh...I saw this on /pol/ earlier. Don't know how it ended there; more importantly, this post is coming up on its 1 year anniversary. Congrats
