Someone should tell him he is apparently fucking up the exposure setting like the automatics never would, for no benefit.
>>
I did, he spent 750 dollars on his camera, and he hasn't the slightest clue how to use it.

Doesn't he have eyes? Shit, if all your images come out underexposed you don't use these settings in manual mode. The damn camera itself has two methods to show underexposure.

And he can't possibly too stupid to realize he is in manual mode rather than some of the really good auto modes, right?

I made the mistake of telling him to use manual exposure. What do you think of his compositions?

> What do you think of his compositions?
The subjects are almost all completely boring - it's not like there is much to "compose" at that point.

If that's the best he has gotten in a year, that's pretty sad.

Then again, it's not like my own walkaround photos don't end up shitty for the most part (even if I don't fuck the basics like exposure up like that).

The thing just is that I generally don't publish the bad and mediocre ones.

Not that I limit myself to photos that might win an award, but you know, those that at least a fraction of the jaded oversaturated consumers of photographic media might think was worth 5-10 seconds of their life.
>>
Like anon said, you can't really start blaming his composition here when all the subjects except maybe the fish really isnt interesting at all.
Your "friend" needs to stop shooting manual and try to find interesting things to photograph instead of posters and grass. Also tell "him" to get closer, as stuff like >>3145749 could be at least mildly interesting if he was all up in that fountain.
>>
Sometimes you see photos and you just think there is absolutely no hope whatsoever for that person. Well this is one of those times.
>>
Okay anon, let's take a look at some of the pictures of your "friend"
>>3145732
what is the subject? a poster in your home? That's not interesting to anybody but you (I doubt it's even that). You also cut off the subject and everything around it and added fake blur? Also it's underexposed, stop manually exposing if you don't know what you are doing
>>3145733
mostly the same issues as the first picture. Try to find interesting subject first and then take pictures
>>3145735
this does have at least some potential but why the sepia tones?
>>3145736
at least you managed to hit focus but the flowers in the foreground are distracting. Also again underexposed and bland colors
>>3145738
>>3145744
>>3145748
>>3145749
>>3145750
see above

Read up on basic exposure, composition and take a look at good, successful photographers and try to analyze what makes their pictures great compared to yours
>>
>>3145735
He should focus on people. Show him how to use LR or Snapseed or something.
>>
the thing is my friend isnt really into art or photography but he still spent alot of cash on his camera. hes not really into photographing people and his results are pretty pretty bad.
>>
look like snapshits just to try out the camera. 16:9 doesn't work for photos imo.

>>3145750
A mode with exposure compensation is a lot easier to use. don't know how the focus is missed in most shots though.
>>
Ive had an a6000 for less than a month and I've got stuff Way better than that. Your "friend" doesn't have a very good eye for what to shoot or he's to lazy to go find things worth shooting.
>>
>>3145785
While I shoot in 3:2 I keep a 16:9 crop of every shot as well. I feel like it can make an image look more cinematic and allows for fullscreen on a phone or computer monitor which is where 90% of people will see your work.
>>
>>3145779
>the thing is my friend isnt really into art or photography
it shows... why did he spend lots of money on a camera if that's the case?

>posts his friends images on 4chan so we can mock his friend
You are a garbage human being
Maybe your friend does not give a shit about 'muh photo art' (photography is not a real art anyway) like you?
So what he takes snapshots of things he thinks are cool, that is what 99% of people who own cameras do.
It does not matter if he bought a used point and shoot from 2002 or a current production flagship, he is obviously doing it for fun.
Kill yourself scumbag
>>
>>3145926
m8, it's pretty obvious that it's OP posting the pictures. The "friend" is him. We all pretty much got this from the beginning, you on the other hand seem to be a bit slow
>>
>>3145770
>Sometimes you see photos and you just think there is absolutely no hope whatsoever for that person. Well this is one of those times.
lmfao
>>
Problem is the camera. If you bought something that doesnt overheat in a second like sonys then maybe youd get some better results. I'd recommend the Fujifilm X-T20. It's a great beginner camera, miles ahead that dated sony.
>>
>>3145748
That VW in the bottom left. Why do people allow their purchased vehicles to be mobile advertisements for a car dealer. Or having their dealership decal glued on the back trunk.
>>
Cause he wanted the best image quality for some reason.
>>
photos are just like any other beginner kid. ask him to keep taking snapshits check some photography related videos study composition learn lightroom or some shit like that

you're a good friend though
>>
>wahhh my friend has more money than me but is shit at photography
i really don't care about you or your friend. this board isn't here for me to rip on your friends photos to make you feel better. and if, in the likely case that this is YOUR photography, go to the recent photos thread next time, this is a waste of a catalogue space.
>>
>>3145732
It looks like he's having fun, and it got him out of the house. I think that's worth the price of the camera alone.

He'll hear that his subjects are boring, and he'll see that pictures of women all seem to go well. He'll post some ads on Craigslist and find a few models. His first portraiture work will look like a step backwards, but he'll start meeting people. He'll find that he has some stories to tell. He'll try to find a way to tell them with his camera.
>>
>>3149858
Wait, is that an engineering school?

Jk he'll find out some prostitutes will let you take pictures, and he'll buy more and more cameras.
>>
OP here oh boy he's taking a darkroom class... lucky for him im pretty skilled in the dark arts so I gotta help him, hes not really into shooting people and he categorically denies taking photos of people.
