Hello my fellow /p/hag enablers, I plan on doing an outdoor photoshoot (something like pic related) for my 2 year old daughter and since I'm still relatively new to this I want to ask for your advise, I have a nikon d7100, a yongnuo speedlite III, a flash trigger and some other stuff that I'll show you guys in the next post
I have some practice with portraits before and outdoor photography in fact I already did a photoshoot with her when she was younger and I think it turned out alright but I only used my camera and I'd like to add some more equipment to make a more outstanding result
Any advise is welcomed!
some of the gear I have, 50mm prime, normie 18-55mm and a 55-200mm lens

Keep it simple. What you need is a decent prime. Your 50mm is ok, a 85 or 135mm would be even better. You could use your flash, but you will loose a lot of spontaneity. Interact with her, make her look happy, spray and pray. You could achieve a decent compressed Dof with your 55-250mm too.
Remember to shoot at her level, not yours.

Thanks I considered using the 55-200mm for the same reason but the 5.6f aperture is kinda limiting, why would a 85-135 be better? would I have to be too far away from her to take the shoots? couldnt that reduce the possibility of interaction with her?

I like whatever vsco filter you slapped on this.

>why would a 85-135 be better
Better background compression, 85mm is the point when you stop getting facial distortion, prime lens is generally sharper at that focal length than a zoom lens in the same focal length and other memes. Shooting with your 55-200 at 85mm makes the first two points moot though I suppose. I'd recommend just sticking with the 55-200 for now, invest in an 85 prime in the future if you're into the whole muh bokeh thing. I shoot with an 85 on a full frame and I do find myself having to step back from my subjects, but it's still close enough where interacting with them isn't much of an issue. 50mm is still borderline acceptable for portraits, if you prefer that over an 85 then it's not really that big of a deal.

>I shoot with an 85 on a full frame
that's the thing I dont have a ff camera, the d7100 is a 1.5 crop dslr so 50mm are the equivalent of 80mm (sorta) which is why I think 85mm or more would be kinda far away for average situations might work in a couple of pictures tho

Me too, I really like how the colors turned out for the first and third picture, althou I cannot honestly remember which preset I used, I was trying pretty much all of them because I'm still new to lightroom (more of a photoshop kinda guy) and I got a fuckload of presets in the preset trading threads so there is that
