How do you keep your files organized on your HD?

Within that I have a RAW folder, a JPG folder and an Export folder for edits.

I just have folders breaking down if it's videos, photos, etc. then subfolders showing the place or event. Then subfolders for day during that event if it was multiple days. subfolders for who was shooting what, if it was me and my gf shooting. then if I dumped multiple cards that day, i just create different folders for each dump for time of day and number of memory cards. So mine looks like this:

4tb drive>photos>yosemite>day 2>Morning (if needed>Gf camera>Card 1>images

It's never failed me yet, and been doing it for years. I have quite a few photos too

One main photo folder > one folder for personal photos and one for clients types of photos I take (art, portrait, landscape, family/friends, weddings, etc) > subfolders for each shoot > folder with descriptive name [ex: Fishing with dad, Trip to Desert, Shoot with Model, Johnson wedding]

Renaming photos also helps a ton. I pretty much know where each specific photo is at this way.

Also lightroom keeps track of your photos by date/time already so idk why you faggots would organize with numbered folders.

Main Folder > Month > Day of import

It's not perfect but it helps them from all being in one folder

Came up with a mock organization method. How does this look? Would it be too much trouble to name each image [Date]+[Subject]? I'm only starting out, so I want to get into a good method now before it's too late.

The idea would be to throw all of those month folders into a [2017] once the year is over.

Place + Date (usually just month + year)

I mostly shoot while traveling so this is easy to memorize

Once for film, once for digital

I have everything in the file name, though plus information on the films.
drive/2017_08_26_film type_number of film_number of photo on the film_subject
So everything is chronological + I write camera type, Iso etc. in the description tags in the file properties.
This way I can find anything by just using the search field in windows, since I don't want to use some specific software.

Dump to Google Photos or Drive. Use search bar. It finds pictures containing that subject.
