I think the lighting and post are fine desu. When it comes to cropping ask yourself "what is the subject of the photo?" And "what isn't needed?"

When I look at your shot I think the subject is the house with the sun coming through the trees to its left. What isn't needed is all the black trees. Having identified those two pieces of information I crop the photo to place our subject in a more ideal position withing the photo. In this case it's right along one of the 2/3rd lines and remove those dark trees.

ya gotta agree with other anon this is a picture of nothing don't know what you were going for here. sure maybe your metering is fine but thats about it lol a monkey could use a priority mode and achieve the same result. actually, i don't even know why you're even shooting manual if you don't know what you're doing. manual isn't going to make you better unless you already have an understanding of your exposure triangle. i don't care if you say you know your triangle which is whats gonna end up happening considering how defensive you already are. your ISO is at 800 why? you lose dynamic range and instead of lowering your iso and shutter speed to achieve literally the same exact result, you decide to use shutter of 1/1250. completely useless shutter speed in this scenario. you would benefit more from aperture priority, f/8 to get better depth of field and sharpness, iso 100 for a cleaner and more workable picture, and whatever shutter speed your camera picks for you. if its too slow to the point where you get blur (not very likely in this specific case) then that is when you finally raise your ISO.

my advice still applies, just it's f/5.6 instead of 8. Probably because diffraction starts earlier for that lens. Either way you still benefit in having a greater dof by stopping down so that your subject is entirely in focus 2.8 is great when there's not that much light or when you want shallow dof but for your specific case it hurts you more than benefit you

even in this chart at f/5.6 you're still good enough to be receiving more benefits by stopping down to 5.6. Think about it. Sure, at 2.8 its gonna be super sharp. all 2 inches or so if you even get that. at f/5.6 it might not be as sharp as 2.8 but its not detrimental to the image. your increased depth of field will make it appear sharper rather than having a thin sharp sliver of focus at f/2.8. Again, I said that for your particular picture f/2.8 hurts you more than benefit you. this will obviously not always be the case and its your judgement thats gonna have to be used when you take a different picture.

Not that guy, and not ripping your photo apart. But don't listen to your light meter in outdoor situations, especially high contrast scenes like yours where theres a cloud and dark shadows in it. The best way to maximize your DR is by exposing the cloud so it's just barely overexposed, then bring the shadows up. it's called ETTR (expose to the right) if you want to look it up
