Yes or no?
Why?

I use them mostly for protection, since I bump my gear into things often lol

nothing funny about bumping your gear into things

yes if the lighting forces you
yes if you need to protect your front element
no if your cameras looks too intimidating with it on

>no if your cameras looks too intimidating with it on
That's the main reason I've been avoiding it.
I generally won't use this one unless I'm taking shots of someone who specifically asked for portraits. Even at a party or wedding or other stuff that you'd expect to see cameras, I feel like people are intimidated by this thing.

No. It's annoying and bulky. I take shitty pictures and dont mind washed out photos or flares and I have a uv filter to protect my glass.

Basically never. It's more useful for rain than it is sunlight. I always carry my camera so it's never for protecting it. It's a D750 though so my wrists are quite strong now.

fucken hipsters.
>>
yes always. knocked my tripod over with the camera on it once at the start of an important (paid) shoot. landed front element first. the lens hood on the 85mm saved my ass that day. there is no reason not to use one

I always use a lens hood. Yes it makes the camera look way more aggressive but to shoot good photos you need a lot of light and too much light will blind your camera so i always use a lens hood.

All feedback is very valuable to me given that I have stage 3 bone cancer. I am really trying to live life in the photography "fast lane". Just because I have cancer doesn't mean you have to be nice in your comments, I want the complete human experience. Happy photo taking.
