Who would've thought?
>>
Aren't you forgetting about low-light situations?

Sensor size definitely makes a difference.
>>
Most medium formats are only 44x33.

Full Frame is at a special position where it's better value due to mass manufacturing. But still much larger than other mass manufactured sensor sizes.
>>
>>3135607
Except they don't, DR is still shit on small sensors.

Better than D6 mark 2.

No

There's two options
A - trying to get every single thing in focus, no attention to the subject itself
For these, phone is good enough.

B - artistic depth of field used to make drama, high resolution subject and soft background.
For these, the world's best photog holding a phone will produce worse picture quality than an amateur who has been taught for 30 minutes how to do shallow DoF with a 35mm or medium format camera. They've had sports photogs shoot games with an iphone and the result was absolute 0/10 garbage, while that exact same person with their own DSLR shoots real drama.

Phone cameras are absolutely helpless at B. They are incapable of shallow DoF. They can only do it artificially in software which is ugly and does not mimic real life (not all objects in foreground/background are same distance, but photoshop does not know the position of objects which is why post-production blurs look like dogshit)
>>
>>3136000
Take a look at the shallow DoF pics taken by the iPhone7. If the objects in the background are different distances, then it comes out really bad.
>>
Sensor size and sharpness is a meme. You choose the camera you like using. I don't use smartphone because i don't like how they take pictures, there's not enough manuality in them. Everything is too electronic and tacky. But there's also no point in going full frame DSLR, because nowadays everything will always end up in social media.

Technology has progressed to the point where even phone sensors have enough DR to cover most cases, so the DR advantage of large ones is becoming less and less important. And mass-market photography has never been about quality, but rather about maximum convenience while still getting "good enough" pictures.

What the fuck does it matter if "most people" think Instagram iPhone snapshits are "good enough"? This is a photography imageboard, not a 16yo girl's Facebook wall.

God forbid enthusiasts and people with interest in a particular topic post in an imageboard.
>>
>>3136000
Did you even read his post? He said artificial DOF is ugly. I have a 7+ and do use the portrait mode but it’ll never replace organic DOF.

Having said that, DOF is not the be-all and end-all of photography, and is used poorly more often than well. Small sensors can capture great images if you know the limitations and can work around them.

The FF 5DsR has less DR than the Aps-C 20D.
How do you explain this?

By refuting the premise. Pic related.

Also, by pointing out that saying "An APS-C camera has less dynamic range than a full frame camera" doesn't refute the argument that the full frame camera has better low light capabilities than the APS-C camera, even if it were true, which it isn't, and again pic related.

People also claim to not see any difference between 30 and 60fps.

However it's only ever people that have only ever invested in 30fps gear that say this. It's a defense mechanism, "ps4 is the best, pc costs twice as much and humans can't even tell the difference", "what about all these tests that show humans can see the difference", "YEAH, WELL, WHAT ABOUT THIS ONE UNATTRIBUTED QUOTE SAYING THEY CAN'T LALLALALALALALA"

>>3137889
That's because you're a povvo loser.
