Your thoughts about geometry in photography?

Some geometries are more equal than others.

Absolutely meaningless ratios of numbers are used by people who suck at art to pretend their bad art is good art.
There's no scientific evidence whatever that any ratio has any significance in great art, or even good art. The one and only real guideline is not to have important subjects that are only on the very border (touching the edge/cut off)
Anywhere else in the frame is good.
I like it and shoot for geometry/balance most of the time
watching where the lines go and what shapes seem to fit where and how everything seems to balance in the frame is fun

I've heard people speak about triangles and how they can be the key to a great shot but I never understood why. if 3rds is geometry, then yeah, it's good way to teach someone who's just picked up a camera not to just keep the subject in the centre all the time but it soon becomes a very bendable 'rule'.
Leading lines makes sense to me in theory but I've never seen a photo and felt like lines drew my attention away from anything. Might be better if you do more story telling stuff I guess
Geometry on the sides of buildings and different textures in photos interest me. But not so much in a photography technique kind of way as just being interesting to look at

If you don't get composition by the age of 18 - you never will.

oh hi mark

>this nigga.
How can you be so wrong

It's about balanced composition and positioning things in a more dynamic way. Yes you can just center a subject in every shot but it isn't hurting anyone to do differently than that either.

>anywhere in the frame is good
no wonder your art sucks and you keep asking yourself why
>>3134420
Ok so my thought in it are these
1. Dynamic symmetry won't save your art even if you use it correctly if the core of your picture sucks there's nothing you can do to save it.
2.Symmetry in art is supposed to be used as a tool.
3. Learning it will make you know why or when your pictures are failing or succeeding (not alway
Learning to master symmetry in your art is like learning to master color, perspective etc.. it won't make or break your picture but combining all of these technics and you just might make your pictures better.
