Yes, the D3400 is just a little newer.
But differences between generations are generally very small and any DSLR should last you many generations.

They will not repair the camera if you send it to them for repair. You'll need use a 3rd party repair service. If you're okay with that, go for the gray market without a second thought.

Nikon literally has a "compare" function on their website. Put the D3300 and D3400 in and look yourself.
