Anyone else into lightening photography? I find it a bit hard since I only have 18-55 and no tripod (yeah, I'm a beginner). I only have a hard time with the location.
Post your photos, would like to see em.

i like it
1/2 taken on a farm I used to live on.
I really miss storm photography, I had some great fun working on that back in the day. My work schedule has kept me away from a camera for almost 3 years now.
2/2
Heavily cropped from the original with contrast and levels pushed around.
Both of these were taken on a Pentax Kx, 18-55 kit lens, 2 second exposure 400 iso at something like 16f
How do you do lightening photography? Do you just set a slow shutter speed and keep shooting until it actually strikes?

i was also wondering this
do you do long exposures to try and capture all the flashes of lighting?

If you expose for too long and the flash happens earlier in the exposure, it'll look weaker. Which can be fine, it depends on what you're going for.
I usually do 6-10 second exposures, and set the camera to take them one after another with a half second interval in-between.

I usually put 15 seconds, iso 100 and f stop around 16? I'm not sure, I do what I feel will do the trick with the light I'm dealing with
