how to shoot the eclipse?
is a R72 filter dark enough for the eclipse?
I also have an ND8 and CPL
if I stack them all will this give me enough of a light reduction?
Get an actual solar filter.

You need about 16 stops of filtering AND proper UV filtering.
You only need a filter for looking directly at it, or looking through an OPTICAL viewfinder (like a DSLR), or if you're shooting it from a tripod and leaving the camera pointed at the sun for more than 30 seconds at a time.
If you point the camera up to take a picture and walk away, nothing bad will happen.
Don't believe the hype. Does your camera break when the sun goes behind a tree?

the R72 blocks out all but some visible IR and with the other 2 stacked I should be around 10 stops. from there I should be fine stopped down to f22 on live view right?

Probably if you underexposed enough.
this eclipse has been known about for thousands of years, you should've had a proper solar filter by now.
