sense can be had at too points: formal and semantic. this example gives you the worker and the place where he works at, both images are linked by that association, even if no one tells you, they "naturally" pair and (god forbid using this term) tell a story. also, theres this stark, monolythic quality both images share, and that constitutes a second way of linking them. the fact that the shapes dont echo each other makes it even better, as they are linked by mood not geometry (sometimes this is ok, though).

this is a different way of pairing. theres some stuff going on here thats playful, very different from the image above. theres the implication of voyeurism, the silly surreal continuation of the peeping lady into the shadow projected, since its a single lady ogling a young couple, theres the implication of envy or judgement too; again, it "tells a story" and makes your head draw conclussions just by placing them together. both images present a strong contrast between each other (tonality, composition, textures), with makes the dyptich even more powerful, like two different worlds paired for comparison.
