Is there anything more going on here than the following:
- Closer to the subject(s)
- Lower
- Shallower depth of field
- applying some vignetting
It shows a photographers before how he used to take photos and how he now takes photos but Im trying to ID everything he is doing

Yes I thought that there might be some filters going on here too. The colors look boosted

the editing is shit, but I think the point is spotting the opportunity for a good picture. the composition is good because the photographer positioned the kid well

the foreground seems digitally blurred by a program to me. Its a noticeable straight line where it transitions from unfocused to focused
