This is my 2nd favorite type of photography (I include cinema and television in the category).

#1 is documentary photography that is taking photos of things no one has photographed before.

Probably landscape. No effort invovled. Mother nature does it all for you.

Potraits take skill and knowledge ie. Making the subject comortable enough to look natural and lighting techniques.

Tradidional, commercial portrait photography (high school seniors, families, children) may not be the most exciting, glamorous job, but it paid my mortgage on 3 homes and put my kids through college. It's basically a career of creating images that other people like more than you do, but then you have the luxury of pursuing your artistic preferences on your own time, paid for by your boring portrait clients.

Simply use some basic lighting equipment. A studio also lets you get away with anything with full control

Landscape

Have to camp out for fucking hours or even days depending on which weather conditions you're seeking

The two are nowhere on the same level. You can just blast out the background for portraits if conditions aren't ideal. Landscapes take a huge amount of patience and planning in comparison.
