What film speed should I use for street photography?
>>3115480
this is a decision you should make yourself
if someone answers that for you they're basically dictating what kind of pictures you can take
>>3115480
>What film speed should I use for street photography?
As fast as you can get,. Always use black and white and push it a further 20 stops. Never use a focal length longer than 35mm and use a range finder.
These are incontrovertible rules of 'street'. Disobey them and you will be shot at dawn.
Most disposables have between 4-800 ISO film.
I tend to shoot 400 and push and pull.
>>3115480
400 if you shoot on daylight
1600 if you shoot just before and after sunset
this is me >>3115483
I accidentally read your post as "night photography"
as others have said yeah high speed film is better for street photography because you'll need fast shutter speed
>>3115505
>400
>daylight
>>3115480
What ISO should you use? As low as you can get away with.
This is why people don't like you
>>3115614
Yes, iso400 is the lowest I go. You could go below, but I don't like motion blur.

Is the A7II's color rendition this much different than your 6D was or your post processing style changed?
>>3115868
I try different combinations of lenses and filters. Whatever camera I use, I mix the camera profile, the color curves and a film simulation until I like it. T-t-thanks for following me, senpai.
>>3115480
I shoot delta 3200 with an nd filter to bring it down to 800 then in development I push it back to 3200
>>3115904
Is it possible to get away with 3200 in an urban night scene under a source of light or it would be wiser to push it further? I have a couple of rolls I bought on a whim but still haven't dared to use them.
>>3115862
This is fucking shit too. Generic as fuck my man. Kill yourself.
>>3115614
>his camera can't shoot at 1/2000
>his lens won't stop down to f22
>he doesn't carry ND filters to shoot wide open
Top kek
>>3115480
>higher ISO make the image darker
You're not pushing it back to 3200, you're just developing it as normal since the film is already at 3200.
The ND filter doesn't magically change the speed of the film in the camera.
>>3116192
yeah well sometimes I need to push it to 12800 for night weddings and have my lee nd filter take it down to 1600 so that way i don't blow my highlights in the chinese lanterns
>>3116703
>12800 iso
What the hell? I can't mention it without posting samples.
There's a device you can attach to the camera and it will fire a pulse of light making you capable of shooting in the dark using low iso. I forgot the name of the device but it is often posted here.
>>3115614
Believe it or not, daylight is stronger in some places than it is in others.

Literally go to any major western European city and compare it to 10 years ago.
What's even the point of 3200 film?
>>3118000
lford 3200 film is the best looking film in the world. I love when my photo looks like it was printed on sandpaper

It is like you're giving it, taking it, and giving it back again. Do you know how a camera works?
>>3115862
Funny how you bring your shutter speed down and you ISO can come down too.
Really makes you think, doesn't it...

>>3115480
CMOS = 800 at most, grain is ugly.
CCD = 1600 is still fine, grain looks really nice.

a literal brain.

OR
Do the opposite of everything this anon says and see what happens. Shoot on the street with a DSLR and a 300mm prime lens in color. Mite b good

A E S T H E T I C
>>3115480
depends what look you want mayne.
a high iso like 800 or 1600 just frees up more adjustability for aperture or shutter speed. if the photo is fundamentally good a little grain shouldn't matter. that said, pulling off low speed like 100, which would be kind of a bitch in low light, would look rad.
