Just got my first camera doesn't have a phone attached to it, am I part of the club now?

Got this camera for great price, but it's pretty darn dusty and dirty so I could use tips for cleaning.
Maintenance thread! How do you keep your shit together? Got any horror stories of broken cameras?
Here's a couple videos from the good fella's at Tested on camera stuff.

>falling for the Sony meme
>buying a Sony camera made when they were shit
You dun fucked up hard
>>3113524
>literal gearfag
Get out of here bitch with enough practice he'll probably blow your snapshits out of the water.
OP invest in a camera bag for storage dont get inside the sensor to clean it unless youre really comfortable your not gonna fuck it up. Clean the outside with ear cleaners for dust or a can of compressed air. Always wipe your lenses every time you shoot with a lens cloth and take it with you every time you bring the camera with you and have fun shooting brudda

Hearing a lot of criticism and no advice, means you dont have any and just want to whine about something.
Like I said, this is my first camera and it was fucking cheap son. Woulda been dumb not to buy it.
Back on track, would an anti-static cloth to clean the mirror be alright? When cleaning mirrors I usually have to use some liquid.
>>3113533
Storage bag, cottonbuds, compressed airs and lens cloth. I'll get right on that and thanks for hte vote of confidence brudda.
I googled imaged searched dslr cleaning. Pic Related.
>>3113536
If its yoir first time cleaning a camera i would advise against getting inside to clean the sensor you can easily damage it. Find a shop near you, and have them do it if you can. Have you shot any pictures to see if the sensor is clean? Sometimes you can see dust and stuff through the viewfinder.
>>3113542
I've had a look at the inside with strong light. Insides are a little bit dusty so I should be fine doing it myself, I'll be gentle. Seems the view finder has a lot of crud and dirt in it though.
Haven't taken a picture yet, need to charge the battery and find a memory card.
Popping my first real photograph cherry, what to capture, what to capture.
Did a lot of cleaning. Still some nooks to clean out and I should probably wipe the whole thing down with cleaning alcohol. Heres very few of the cotton buds I used to clean it.
I've looked at all the mirros and lenses and stuff and I do have some bits of grit or whatever on there. I think they are on the focussing screen and I'm wondering how to clean. I tried *carefully* to rub it with a cottobud but it didnt lift the dirt. Would a cottonbud soaked in alcohol work?

Don't put alcohol or anything on the glass on the lens clean it gently with a micro fibre cloth
>>3114286
nothing wrong with alcohol, I have been using this to clean my sensor for years. it's not great for skin oils like fingerprints so ROR is my go to for lenses
>>3113533
>Always wipe your lenses every time you shoot
Doesn't matter unless he does macro.
>>3113539
Don't use compressed air on your sensor, it's a risk I wouldn't take.
>>3113533

HAHAHHAHAA
Nobody who isn't a autist with OCD does this.

I wasn't planning to clean it every time I pressed the button but I am a 'clean after every use' kind of guy.
Update, still haven't taken a picture. Found an SD card but the camera kept saying "reinsert card". So I'm on the hunt for another card to try.
Any tips for that?
Doing a little bump.
Should be getting a card later and taking my first pictures...hopefully.

have fun man. My first camera was a circa 2006 Sony a100 that I used the hell out of. Great little camera and the A mount has a ton of great, old minolta glass you can get on ebay when you want to branch out. You should be able to pick up a 70-210/f4 (aka the 'beercan') for about $100, and a 28-135/f4.5 (aka the 'secret handshake) for about $200. Those two alone should cover 95%+ of what you want to shoot.
There was a few months there where the 28-135 never left my camera.

I'm having fun already. I love the sound of the shutter so much. I have a LOT to learn, but heres my first photo...literally right out of the box. (Edit, I tried uploading the first picture but I get an 'Error: Your image contains an embedded file." message. So I'll just try to post one of the other pics I took and see what sticks) ... (ReEdit. My files are either too big or "have embedded files" So heres some scaled down photos...hopefully.)
Thanks for the lenses info, I love the codenames.

My dusty PS3.
>>3113539
As others have said please promise not to use cans of compressed air - you risk propellant on your sensor, forcing mirrors out of alignment, blowing debris deeper into the body etc. It is a very bad idea to take a chance. Buy a bulb syringe for cameras instead. Otherwise, good luck!
>>3119851
Wasn't planning on it. I'll look into cleaning it better soon but right now I think it's ready.
I've ordered a larger SD card and I'll spend a few hours learning how to use the camera tomorrow.
Might make a new thread for progression. "Progression thread"
>>3119658
I see you photographed it with all the games
>>3119981
They couldn't fit in frame. I play the PS3 all the time, just dont clean so often.

Serious question did you get a Sony camera because you're a PlayStationfag?
>>3121170
Thats not a serious question because who gives a fuck about what brand people use. I like Playstation a lot and I dont have enough shelf space to include Nintendo/Sega and a couple XBox things I have.
Don't even risk touching the sensor without checking to see if the photos look okay. Not worth fucking up a perfectly fine sensor just because you want everything squeaky clean
>>3121210
I activated cleaning mode (I'm learning! ^_^) earlier and inspected the sensor. Sensor is fine and dandy, its the mirror and view finder that are a little bit dirty. Lense seems fine too.
