also, I have a shit camera(sony a200) and lens(55-200 kit lens), so I probably couldn't get anything that sharp in 1 photo

I use Samyang 24 and 14mm lenses, this is why it doesn't show the aperture.

At least Wales is not that far away for you. If you go west for dark skies be sure to try to point up into space or west toward Ireland, as I bet you can pick up Birmingham pollution from 50-100 miles. Cloudy skies or humid weather will also help to project light pollution out further. If you make it to north west wales then you would be dealing with Dublin and the Welsh towns there.
In between Aberystwyth and Knighton probably would be the best possible spot in Wales. As you don't want to get too close to Cardiff either. Also don't go when the moon is going to be out unless you want only moon shots.

Forgot to mention condensing dew/fog on the lens, inside the lens, and even on the sensor itself. This is a pretty standard problem with night time photography, especially in a rural area away from concrete. So you kind of need to pre-heat your gear if you want to take more than 10-20 minutes worth of pictures. Once your lens reaches the dew point temperature shit is going to fog up in no time.
So heat up your gear inside or heat your gear with your car heater on the way to the site. They also sell 12V heats that run off your car, and are over priced for what they are.

Why did you leave the bahnitov mask on?
You've been saying you are learning for months now yet you make stupid retarded decisions and mistakes. Astronomy and astro imaging demands a certain level of knowledge you clearly far away from. You can't get results just by throwing money at the problems in this field. Go away, attend classes, finish school first focusing on maths and physics and come back when you have actual results instead of this troll worthy attempt.

>>3112040
or you can get your hand on a light pollution filter like CLS or UHC. They do real magic
>>3112048
>CLS or UHC
looks awesome but what's the difference between the two? not coming up with much at B&H
>>3112158
CLS is just a light pollution filter and it's very easy to calibrate WB with it.
The Ultra High Contrast filter totally kills light pollution, but you have to increase your exposure time. It's mostly for emission nebulas, because it captures about 97-98% of red color.
So are most of these shots done in post where you can't actually see shit until your put it in photoshop?
I've never seen starts with such clarity in real life. And I've NEVER seen gas clouds of nebula.
>>3112278
Our eyes can pick up thousands of stars with our naked eye but if we look at the milky way, it looks like a faint blue cloud. That's because our eyes are just seeing that moment in time, then our brain dumps the image for a new one. But with cameras, the sensors are picking up 30 sec worth of stored light, so all these images are close to what colours they actually are in real
>>3112278
here in wyoming where light pollution is pretty much non existent in the rural areas, you can see our neighbor Andromeda with the naked eye, so my shots always come out incredibly bright on moonless nights, but of course most of these shots are edited quite a lot to make them pop

Do you need fast lenses for astro? Would an f4 kit wide angle be enough?
>>3114331
Just have to leave the shutter open for 10-30 seconds, and maybe use a higher ISO (like 400 or higher).

F/4 is no go. Better get a f/2.8 which will let you save some ISO
>>3114696
He's got a point though. I've tried to help/advise you in the past and you've just been an ass. You're a gear whore. You buy new stuff, point it at the sky for half an hour and because you don't get the results you expect you blame it on the gear.
Stop being a baby. You've got all the gear you need now. Learn to use it. Deepsky astrophotography takes a lot of patience and has a steep learning curve.
