I think the general threads are becoming a little too hyperspecific these days.
>>3107752
It's getting a little bit messy talking about a specific topic in /fgt/ these days.
>>3107754
That's why general threads are cancer in the first place. ;)

Whenever I have some extra money, my next purchase will be a 500c/m.
I'd get one now, but I just blew a bunch on an m-mount camera.
>>3107958
It happens to find some good deals on eBay, that's a great camera, it won't disappoint you.
>>3107961
I was looking on ebay a few weeks ago, but couldn't find anything decent.
Might go try some local camera stores.
>>3107965
Yes, generally eBay has killer prices.

What is a good price for a 500cm body? With an 80mm lens?
>>3107968
Hasselblad, the official camera of
"I'm not jealous, my plastic trashcam does the same job"
>>3107974
I'd say that the complete kit, body, A12 magazine and 80mm Planar C T* should cost around 600-650€.
If you by piece by piece you should be able to save some cash. I paid that kit 500€ buy every single component alone.

I am in Japan, so something like 60000 to 80000 yen.
Not as bad as I thought, will have to go hunting soon.

>price rising
Shit, that is annoying. Money is kinda tight now. Might just order parts as I can afford them.
What is price breakdown like? For body, viewfinder, film holder, and lens?
>>3107995
I don't know, I recommend to buy the body with a viewfinder for around 350 euros or less, 80mm for around 250 euros and magazine for something like 70 euros but no more than that. Of course I recommend to everything before buying.
>>3107996
Damn, the body alone looks like it starts at 400 euros on ebay. And that is excluding shipping.
That lens is incredible, also a pain in the ass when composing, even with the acute matte it's dark.

>Hasselblad moved into this building in the early 00s when they had 500 employees
>the company was in on the digital field very early but their push was stopped by suits
>when digitalisation hit the camera market properly they didn't have the means to deal with it
>hasselblad now has some 60 - 70 employees
The building is like a glass ship on the edge of the Gothenburg wharf. It now houses the regional offices of the swedish equivalent of the BBC and its radio branch.
Pretty sad, desu.
>>3108114
I guess that's part of it, though they've been doing better the last few years.
What happened back then is that this financial services company called UBS bought up Hasselblad to make a quick buck over a few years. Hasselblad was at the forefront of the digital revolution in developing new tech; this was all canned by UBS who only wanted the company to keep selling their well-known analog cameras until it became unviable, sacking all the staff that was attached to the digital project.
I was at their current offices the other day to hand in a camera for service (mirror's stuck). It's not a bad location at all, it's just considerably smaller. It would be fantastic to see them push for more "affordable" cameras again, it's a name that means a lot to a lot of people. Their stuff was never cheap, but atleast it was attainable by enthusiasts rather than reserved for professionals and rich hobbyists.
>>3108120
>>3108120
I guess that now a full mechanical medium format SLR would not be an issue to project and build, also it would be really cheap. I think many people would prefer to buy a ~600 euros new body rather than a 400 old 500C/M body that eventually sooner than later will need some good repair.
>>3107751
Why use such a shallow DoF?
>>3107764
Why would you use 400 in broad daylight, also not liking the composition
>>3107856

>>3107964
I actually started tripping so that I could shitpost but also give crybabies like you a chance to filter my posts.
I'm also super helpful and would occasionally like some credit for all the good i do around here.
Haven't really used other cameras in a long time consistently, but definitely need an overhaul of light traps.
45s, 40s, 35s, ugh.
>>3108278
Why would you take a handheld photo at 1/8s? I don't understand, you shot 400 film at 1/8s, maybe go out before sundown and/or take a tripod with you.
>>3108285
If I did there's a reason. I wasn't able to bring with me a tripod in the Netherlands, and I was there in Delft at the end of the day. I liked that particular view from a bench at water level, it was way beyond sundown but I took that picture anyway. In this case a 400 ASA film is not enough at all.
>>3107935
>dem greens
>digicucks on suicide watch.jpg
>>3108288
Well it's not that bad, but stabilising the camera would have helped a lot. Just a rail or a pole can be enough to make 1/8s work.
>>3108291
It's Fuji green, man.

Also,
>labcuck scans
Which focusing screen do you guys have on your Hassys? I really want to grab one of the acute matte ones with the microprism, but they're insanely expensive.
>>3108602
I use a simple acute matte with a cross, nothing more nothing less.
The microprism one is basically useless with long focal length lenses, it will just be a dark circle. The simple one will be bright enough to allow you to focus properly.
>>3108676
Yeah, I've read that before. I'm running with a regular 80mm though, and I don't really intend to go for anything larger than 150mm in the future. I haven't been shooting Hasselblad for very long at all, and I gotta say it's quite different from shooting with regular eye-level SLRs with a split image center - guess it's something you have to get used to.
>>3108688
Yes, you have to get used mainly to the specular image on the screen, if you're not used to it you could end up composing a picture and then realizing that it sucks before it's completely different when seen correctly.
>>3107996
>>3107993
>>3107978
Yea, a basic kit seems to be around $1000 on e-bay now, shit sucks.
Is there a real difference in availability between the chrome model and the black model? Chrome looks better, but some of the cheaper ones seem to have rusted.
if my m-mount body is actually dead (out for repairs now) I will pick one up.
>>3109027
wow, prices really seem to have gone up then.
i paid 650 eurobucks for my 500cm + a12 + 80mm planar a few years ago. and i sold it again for the same price two years ago...
>>3109027
That price is absurd, just wait the good deal. Generally black painted bodies are less common than chrome bodies. Generally they don't have rust unless the chrome is heavily scratched, it doesn't occur often. In the meantime black paint is really delicate and a small scratch will be the start of its degradation, just don't buy one if not in mint condition and if you're planning to let that camera work a lot. Also black painted accessories are rarer than chrome ones.
>>3109044
Yes, it's a good price to buy, not so good to sell.
>>3109059
>Yes, it's a good price to buy, not so good to sell.
agreed.
did not get rid of it as fast as i expected to, though.
>>3108269
Remember when shooting in the snow to overexpose 1-2 stops above whatever your meter says to get white snow.
It seems counterintuitive but your meter is only calibrated to meter 18% gray so when you're in a snowy area your meter wants to "properly" expose the scene and since snow reflects so much light your meter is going to underexpose the scene significantly and make everything gray.

Only if you meter on reflected light. Of you meter on incident light you won't need any adjustment
>>3109236
True, thanks for the clarification.
>>3109198
I use an incident/spot meter and I prefer the exposure like it was. It looked less gray on prints but I unexpectedly sold them before it occurred to me to scan them.

Don't know why it didn't upload the picture.
>>3109784
Good fucking kit, anon.
I've personally got a regular 500cm and the 80mm Planar CF lens, nothing special. My dad on the other hand bought a 500cm (black version) with a Distagon 40mm, an 80mm and a 150mm with all kinds of accessories (and backs) for a fucking steal from an estate, and what's worse is that it was all in pristine condition and almost literally unused since it was first bought in 1977 (and this was a few years ago). Envy is a good word that describes my feelings.
>>3109789
Sorry, 50mm distagon, not 40.
>>3109784
Fuck, I want one.
What is the difference between the 500CM and 500C?
The C is like half the price?
>>3109825
Hurrdurr how do I google things guise???
>>3109825
C models are older, don't have the interchangeable focusing screen and you can't pre-fire the auxiliary shutter allowing the mirror to go up and reduce the vibrations.
