Thank you for the constructive criticism
You can DL both PS and LR from adobe and then find the crack online (don't just download some piratebay virus-filled bullshit) and not have to pay $120+ a year for the privilege of curdling Adobe's balls.
Also, Capture One produces sharper images from RAW, but the workflow of LR, including easy export to PS, almost makes it better.
Does anyone have any tips for decent black and white conversions? Every time I try to convert a portrait (because that's what I generally do) to B+W, the tones just look lifeless compared to competently exposed, developed and printed tri-x.
Ids post processing really considered cheating?

Shoot tri-x.

Impressive recovery of those shadows there. Unfortunately it gives her crazy eyes.

Yes, only a talentless faggot or Sony shooter has to tamper with their files to get passable looking photos.
Anyone tried Affinity Photo?
>>3109161
I've been meaning to. I'm excited hear people's opinions.

God I fucking hate those pedo glasses on women
Can we just get a general for all the general threads? That way you talentless mongs can all gather and attention whore together while suggesting new gear and editing photos that aren't even worth importing.

Mess around with the "B&W Mix" sliders in Lightroom, they are pretty powerful.

i know you guys hate digital black and white.

Actually good
None of you know how to take a photo worth post-processing in the first place. It's just a rote mechanism, a routine, of justification wherein you "make your mark" on a particular file and fool yourself into thinking you've had creative input in doing so.
Shoot jpeg only until you get good, THEN post-process.
I use gThumb to resize and maybe adjust brightness/contrast/saturation
I don't get spending so much time to either A.) Make it look like the goddamn jpeg or B.) Make it look fake

bad advice my man. classic photo instruction teaches both the negative and the print at the same time, as the two are interrelated. you are much more likely to learn how to make a good print before you learn how to make an amazing masterful photo that changes the world.

Why did you bother removing the color
What were you trying to accomplish
Need help. I'm trying to figure out where to start in beauty retouching. That is WHY should I dodge and burn rather than WHAT is dodge and burn. Im familiar with all the techniques, but I feel lost when it comes to shaping the face or shaping eyebrows.
Do I watch a bunch of make up videos? Or collect and aggregate a lot of beauty shots? Or take a painting a class?
