one of my favorite things to do is go out and shoot walls here's my random thoughts you may find useful

I think you're on the right track. What I notice the most is that your proportions are a bit awkward. When you compose these take your time and look at the different textures,colors, and lines and see if you can 'balance' them all

these in particular feel very unbalanced. What I like to do is try to divide up the areas in rough percentages and make sure there's not ever areas that take up too much weight of the photo

this is a really neat wall to shoot but another very unbalanced shot with there being a lot of sky and the very uneven ground. This is a situation where the wall itself is a really interesting combination of constant unbroken lines, strong textures and colors. You'd want this to dominate the frame and putting it in the middle third just makes it sorta meh. Also mind how things line up. The white line being slightly off of those metal ventilation ducts and the odd placement of the other two ducts one being too close to the edge and the other just in an awkward spot really breaks it up for me. This is something you'd definitely want to reshoot though. It's a neat scene

I'd also agree that you'd probably want to attain better tonality but you can do that as you get better at PP to really make what you want pop and get rid of what you find distracting

I re-cropped this a little so for example if I was going to go out and recompose this I might try 20% sky, 30%, big horizontal texture, 20% blue vertical line texture, 30% ground, etc

and of course if you composed this way with slightly more of a telephoto you really just end up with the main textures dominating the frame

and its not really a perfect science you can just approximate while you're out there to practice

dunno if any of this helps but messing with working this way helped me really polish some of my wall images

if you can I'd definitely recommend standing on top of your car if you have one and trying to use furthest zoom with the kit lens then

you could get some nice telephoto compression and the wavy parking lot would be more pronounced

that's definitely a nice wall to shoot though. It has a lot of nice features

also stuff doesn't necessarily need to be spread out. You can definitely use features of the wall as 'borders' for your main features and whatnot. When it comes to walls there's so many different ways you can do it you just have to experiment with different stuff

I had almost forgotten about those two you mentioned, they're from an older boat trip

it made me realize how big of a difference a change in perspective can make; and while having a boat isn't always an option, even just shooting from a low angle or from a usually inaccessible place can show the subject in a whole new interesting way

glad you liked them, hope the processing contributed to that a bit because I've never used that style before

pic related would've been much better if taken at a higher angle, to get better proportions in the colors/texture (green, grey, black, blue); which is pretty much what the anon observed already before in my other pics
