How can anyone compete with Sony for the most basic and universal lens?
Why choose any other brand?
>>3101681
I assume you mean Besides Canon, Nikon, and Minolta.
Because all three of those have a better selection of Full Frame lenses.
>>3101686
If you round up every nikon, canon and minolta 50mm there would be fewer and none would be as good image quality.
>>3101681
>Why choose any other brand?
Because Sony are unreliable and have shit customer service. Further more the only people that think they are good are splogs and shills and people who don't take photographs
>>3101681
why would you need all of them?
Also,
>50mm
Pffff, patricians use 55 or 58mm.
>>3101681
Sony: you can have any lens you want!....as long as it's a 50.
>>3101687
>none would be as good image quality.
IIRC Zeis Otus (for manual focus) and Sigma art (for auto focus) are still king of image quality.
And the old Sigma still has the nicest bokeh.
Why get any other 50 than those 3?
>12 variants of the easiest-to-make focal length with the worst real life applicability
really activates the almonds.
>>3101696
the zeiss 55mm outperforms the otus on everything except vignette and transmission.
>>3101688
Also their cameras cook a full English breakfast, will give your home black mold if you get one drop of water on them, and are actually $3000 plastic mockups that crumble into dust if you press the shutter button. Nobody has even noticed yet.

The 55mm is sharper, has a t value much closer to it's f value and less flaring due to concave front element. I literally can not force out ca on my copy, even shooting things like reflective glass or railings with strong backlighting, nothing at 100% crop.

Yep, people have different hands, sony never has catered for fatties and spade handed labourers in any of their products.
>customer service wahhhhh
You mean some people try and claim warranty repairs on mishandled goods and get upset when they can't have their cake and eat it? Just take the camera killing corrosion issue that was definitely gonna kill every sony camera? Still only that one example from the guy that lives on the beach as far as I can see on google, surely there should be a glut of white, crusty camera innards by now? And according to my local store, for any warranty repairs they send off they get a replacement refurb unit within a week, sorry you live in a 3rd world country tho.

Unless you have crabhands or undying devotion to a soulless company, you will soon realize that sony doesnt make cameras, remote controls, controllers, etc. for human hands or human minds.
So many people comparing the A7 line to other camera lines list in their review that the menus are cumbersome and irritating and the button placement annoying.
>>sony only paid me $10 for using their free services
More like "sony paid me 10$ only usable on their store for leaking my credit card information TWICE despite knowing that vulnerabilities exist"
>As I said, you got any actual argument against sony products?
Yes, they're shit in any lateral aspect despite the absolute exactness of every pixel on a 42MP image, the company is shit and everytime they handle something important other than increasing their sales, they fuck it up.
A company has obligations to its customers, not its shareholders.

Cuz they can autofocus
>all this dancing around the "our 50mm are the best evar, you all lose!"
You know what, I don't even care about CA or anything. Let's say that the Lenses Sony has really have the fewest CA in the world and the history of forever.
Nobody cares. People just use anti-CA tools in post anyway.
30 years ago, when there was no way to PostProcess, one could have made a valid point about the exact, miniscule advantage of Sony-Lenses, but we live in and age of sufficiency. A camera isn't about PixelPeeping. It's about creating pleasing images. and nobody fucking cares about a tiny band of blue and red that they cant see and wouldn't notice anyway
Meanwhile, Canon made a 120MP APS-C sensor for superlarge prints (made by their printers)
Sony is busy selling to nerds that wank on datasheets because the exact numbers of their system of choice is just a tiny bit higher

Sony shooter here, I have a Zeiss 85mm 1.4 that fringes (thankfully nowhere near as bad as my Rokinon) and I'm shooting on the A99ii. Many times, CA has interfered with a lo-ap photo and automatic removal in programs like Lightroom can mean that borders on similar-colored objects can end up compromised.
If you think that CA doesn't affect photos, I've noticed a lot of photos I've exported where the fringing around high contrast edges like my girlfriend's hair created a purple halo effect. Even after correction, the region that once contained color now ends up like a "ghost" fringe that doesn't contain the purple or green hues, but still compromises fine detail.
I'd gladly pay for all the features this lens brought to me, without the CA at 1.4-2.2, where I like using this lens most.
Pixel peeping is no different than a chef insisting he samples each ingredient in his dish. Not a necessary step because "garlic is garlic" but some of us like to work on pixel-level. Don't become obsessed with it, but understand the necessity to start with the best.
Ever since I've gone to 42mp I can't go back. The cropping ability and sharpness is just too good.

heavier and wider than the sony 55mm 1.8, also it's t value is 1.7, on a 1.4 lens, sonys' t value is 1.8, on a 1.8 lens. It also resolves about half as much fine detail.

If you primarily shoot video yes the battery will drain fast and if you buy shit 3rd party batteries the battery will drain fast.

See the "blur unit" on the side? The sharpness tests are equalized to the specific camera resolution thus negating the effect of variation in mpx count, making comparisons possible. Sonytard.
I'm not saying the 55/1.8 sony is a bad lens, it's just not really all that special. Definitely not some otus killer like sonytards make it out to be, and way overpriced for what it is.
