Listen, I know that all you canikonfags are sucking Apple's dick pretty hard, but I think it's time that you really considered jumping to the Microsoft ecosystem. They've made some real technological gains over over the past few years to the point that even pro 8x10 LF photographers are shooting tethered with a Microsoft tablet.

8x10 CCD monochrome sensors when?
>>3100031
No market for them, not even in the high-end market.
>>3100020
So far, it can't be opened by non-Microsoft companies without damaging it. You can send it in to Microsoft so that they can repair it, but their party vendors haven't figured out a way to get inside without mangling it.

He should have gotten a Thinkpad P51 or P51s, btw.

but apple is fucking it's core users over with every new generation in favor of dumming down the system for a mass audience.
photographers, videographers and musicians are leaving mac like rats from a sinking ship

>>3100043
It's just a scan, I mean a real sensor of the actual 4x5 size.
Is it even possible to make one when Webb's telescope isn't even that big and must had cost a fortune?

>the final resolution isn't high enough for full-on print spreads
WTF? How fucking big does he need to print that an 8x10 digital back isn't enough?
>>3100043
That article in popular photography reads like a troll article
6 figure 8x10 digital back that he commissioned just to save on Polaroid?
>>3100072
Watch the video.
The Apple Throttlebook Pro gets totally BTFO.
>>3100563
I think you underestimate how expensive 8x10 Polaroid is, but I also think that he did it for the publicity and bragging rights rather than the savings on a line item on his P&L.
>>3100563
Look at the price of that shit
https://eu.impossible-project.com/collections/polaroid-8x10/products/8x10-instant-film-core-bundle
>(348 euros / 20)x3000
>52000 euros per year
>>3100569
I think he did it because he has too many millions and too few hobbies.

Does it really matter what laptop you use?
You're either stuck with an Apple craptop you can't open, or a crappy Surface you can't open.
If it comes down to specs, there are plenty of choices in business class laptops.

>Does it really matter what laptop you use?
Sure. Do you want to be able to shoot tethered while shooting a 8x10 view camera? As of right now, only Microsoft has perfected that technology.
>>3099970
>versatile
No. It's like they took a page from Apple's book and made a product where wverything was meticulously glued together so repairing it on your own is a hassle and you can forget about swapping parts for upgrades.

Nice try, but you're way off.

Aee Lmayo. No.

Same as iShit. But actually its not full of glue inside so while its a complicated job, its not impossible, or at least more possible than opening a mac.
I have a surface pro 3 tho I use it more for drawing and painting i PS rather than edition on lightroom.
