>Otto Warmbier died at the age of 22 in a Cincinnati hospital on Monday, just days after the North Korean government sent him home in a coma and suffering from extensive brain damage, according to the U.S. doctors who treated him.
>He was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for trying to steal an item bearing a propaganda slogan from his hotel in Pyongyang, the nation's state media said.
sure, that sounds reasonable

Finally someone fights back against white privilege!
Based Socialism!! XD
Jest aside, can you imagine that being your job? Slowly torturing a man to death for grabbing a souvenir? I'm not saying the theft was OK, but could make yourself do that to a fellow human being if that was his only crime?

Not to say he deserved to die for what he did, but if you go to North Korea and don't play 200% by the book, you're an idiot.
Whoa guys, can we talk about the OP picture?
What film was used?

look at the case of matthew miller. the north koreans usually don't treat their american prisoners "too badly", regardless of how dumb/minor their offense was. or at least they seem kind of invested in them not dying on their watch.
this case seems different, though. and yeah, poor fella anyway.

What is it with Koreans and being prone to have chubby faces? Not saying this guard is fit but I notice skinnyfat Koreans always look really chubby in the face.
Southeast Asia, Japanese, Chinese don't seem to suffer from this to the same extent.

I saw him bragging about it on facebook. Does that count?

>literally why would anybody go to north korea?
going is one thing, but going and breaking the law is just brainless. sure, stealing a sign isn't the biggest deal in the world but remember civil disobedience is still disobedience.
i don't wish death on anyone, but he should've known better. like it or not you gotta respect the laws of other countries when traveling there. if a foreign traveler defaced/damage or otherwise stole from a us site and got caught while visiting, they'd face a consequence too as in any other place.
play stupid games win stupid prizes...
