What is this for? Back when I took photo in college the prof made us use manual for everything and since then I just use aperture priority 90% of the time
I just use M and Ap for the types of togs I take. Very rarely I'll use Tv but most of my shots are still life and architecture.
P is almost auto but I think you get to choose the ISO

program mode is for people that understand exposure but don't need to use manual to impress plebs
Program is like Auto, except you can control the program to favor fast shutter or fast aperture, rather than sticking absolutely to a specific shutter or aperture. Some cameras have preset programs for certain situations. Pentax lenses have built-in MTF data that allow the camera to use MTF program mode which makes the program's chosen aperture biased towards the lens' resolution sweet spot.
Auto you have absolutely no say in anything.

P mode AKA "professional mode" is only useful on Nikon cameras, since you can change the aperture by increments of 1 f-stop.
It's PRO mode obvioulsy

>use manual
>impress plebs
Like it takes more than a pleb to learn manual.

I see only plebs, old people and wannabes using M mode, pros use P(Patrician) mode or A(Av),S(Tv).
