I have a lot of work I've done that I'm quite fond of but my time covering the end of the Shuttle Program was probably my magnum opus. Just everything was so fucking beautiful and it was bittersweet. NASA went above and beyond to make every little moment memorable, especially with the last 3 rollouts being at night.

It was bittersweet because we all knew it was going away and a lot of people were going to lose their jobs and Titusville would become a ghost town......and it did.

This particular image was literally eyeballed, I had an M645 around my neck and when I went to take this the strap got caught and I could put my 5D to my eye, so I guessed the shot and it came out.

In this shot, you can see the very beginnings of the space program and almost every major launch vehicle from Redstone and Titan, Gemini program, to the Saturn 1B and finally the Space Shuttle at the top.

This was the last rollout I covered, and it was the last one of the Shuttle Program. It was the first Shuttle Program anything I had shot on full frame and with L glass, I used the 5D and 70-200 f4L IS, which was a big step up from a Rebel and Tamron 18-270.

With NASA rolling out the SLS Program I will be back to cover it when it goes live, which is a couple years from now, and you will see more stuff like this.

Probably this, just for how long I'd wanted to do a milky way shot and finally being able to get one. Always lived on the east coast in bright areas, moved out to Seattle 3.5 years ago and finally found the right time / conditions to get out to the coast and take some shots.

Ironically enough I'm really 'over' milky way shots now. Feels like I see them everywhere now, and the fact that so much work needs to be done to get them out is kind of disappointing. With the naked eye it's nothing like this whatsoever, and even with the long exposure there's still a lot of fuckery that goes into a pic like this.
