But that's not entirely true. The biggest part of wedding photography is making the best of any given situation and producing quality images that the clients like. Sure they can have shit taste and choose to employ a shitter like Jason or even a rebel wielding cousin, but most people have some semblance of taste and can recognize higher quality work. If you shit out images without hunting down better shooting conditions or overcoming poor conditions you're stuck with then you won't go far in the industry at all.

I use my flash more in the sun than when it's dark.

Manipulating light is about creating the colour and contrast you want, if you "need" flash because it's dark, what you really need is a full frame camera and fast lens.
