i dont understand. why is this so difficult?
>battery life
>no touchscreen
>no weather sealing

for fanbois only
Boutique model for Benz owners. Not much more to it than that.
Leica's market, basically.
>>3077973
I recall they tried to shill it as "The Leica Killer" when they first released it. S'funny really, for all Soniggs alleged technological superiority they can't even compete with a red dot

what a shock, amirite

you mean soft
Sony's business lies in sensors manufacturing.
Their cameras are just PR stunts.

This
Sony > Leica
Leica is and forever will be a status meme
>>3077985
Good cameras, once upon a time.
Since circa 2000, a status meme.
Still some of the best lenses.
>>3077985
>Status meme vs Fanboi meme
Not a difference I care about

>$5K
It launched at $3299 dumb-dumb
>>3077981
it's called micro contrast. It's what happens when you aren't in full damage control mode and keep adding more and more elements.
>>3077994
Still a complete waste of money, just a complete waste of a little less money.
>>3077995
>it's called micro contrast.
it's called fuzzy shit
>>3077999
Just like most large sensor prime lens cameras
>>3078002
Any fixed focal length point and shit, yes. But the RX1 is the tip of the turd
>cameras easily $1500
>always a compromise
camera industry is the worst tech industry
I never understood why they still make the RX1 when the A7 exists. You can get an A7RII and a Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 that will do everything the RX1RII can do for better with the option to change lenses, and for around the same price.

Don't underestimate the obsessiveness of Sony fanboys. They are up there with Apple
The variable optical low-pass is actually fairly good since it's variable and is actually a newer version of the tech used on the F55. Single button pop up EVF is also better than the RX100 series. Considering the first RX1 came out a whole year before the A7 the RX1 is probably moreso a proof-of concept line.

>micro-contrast
is that the new word for soft?
Pentax FF>sony a7(series)>Nikon FF>>>>>>>>>>>>Shit>>>>Canon FF>>>>>Sony Rx1r
>>3078055
Pentax FF is only good for its weather sealing and pixel shift. Everything else especially lens selection is trash.

"Micro-contrast" is the photography hi-fi fool's mark. It's the failure to accept that the results they dream about are unachievable because of the way that light works in the first place, and in particular how it interacts with air, clouds, dust, and anything that reflects light or casts a shadow.
The typical mention of microcontrast arises when someone takes a 100 ISO black and white medium format photo with a TLR's 4-element 3-group Tessar of a leafless tree against a cloudy sky. Mythical qualities of archaic lens design and failsome single coated glass come together in the same centers of the hi-fi enthusiast's brain as four-figure tube amps and headphone pre-boosters. Just as the audiophiliack listens to his equipment, the pixel peeper seeks perfection at 1:1 enlargement, or some ideal absence of any grain on film.

So what would be needed to be added to the mark iii to make it a must buy?
Other than a reasonable price tag I mean.

>mistaking contrast for soft edges.
>>3078216
So it's just a placebo reinforced by a $10k lens that takes soft pictures?
