for example if you look at

you see lots of people doing things, but there is no obvious further connection between their actions. dudes on the right look pretty happy while the people on the left look a lot more sad and detached from another. both cool themes but they dont fit together without more context.

which i really like, you see the driver possibly very focused on the street, which is kind of interesting because we dont see that much of it. in this shot, the person on the left fits very nicely, because he also is very interested and nearly personificates the feelings of the viewer which is very nice. (also the gradient from left/past/black to right/future/white on him is very dramatic).

you probably did both shots rather randomly, but the bus shot just conveys so much more emotion for me.

I know this is /p/, not /lit/, but you qualify everything you say. In the end, what you write is vague and doesn't tell me that much, but you've padded it out with a lot of filler words.

figuring out how to manipulate your viewers into doing so is really the hard part about art. people can come up with a more objective analysis like for example claiming that a brighter/sharper/more centered object draws more attention and thus plays a bigger role in the perception of the image, but in the end those are just simplifications of far more detailled processes everyone has to figure out for themselves.

if im trying to be more accurate with these two specific shots, i would say that the first one gets me to check all of the quite interesting faces of the people, but then, failing to deduce any more connection or deeper meaning between them and the rest of the shot, i stay with the impression that the photo somehow looked pleasing. but compare this to the bus shop where the views of the people and the bright light immediately force my eye into the right corner, then, unable to make out further details, lets me take a second and more deliberate look at the faces of the people to find information about their (now very interesting to me) destination. unable to read much from the face of the driver, i need to identify with the person behind him, who has this nice gradient from dark to light which i mentioned which really enforces the feelings i already had developed, also his face fits my impression perfectly.

compare the amount of emotion an attentive viewer can get out of your shots: the process may vary from person to person and maybe i overlook something incredibly interesting about the first shot, but the bus stop has so much more to offer to me.

why? imagine how the viewer attacks the last shot: there is a gigantic, fast moving, white vehicle in the foreground, but after checking it out, it offers nothing interesting to the eye. then, already a little turned off, you check the background for something interesting, the first thing being the group of people in the center because they are in focus. but they doing nothing. there is this sea horse thing but it also does nothing. at this point im already bored with the pic.

the window shot on the other hand is much more interesting: first thing to notice is obviously the man in white, the fact that hes looking down at something we cannot see and is also separated from us by those bars makes me a lot more curious about whats going on. i also enjoy how the boxes and window shutters fit the theme of the bars, because geometric harmony is as pleasing to me as drama is. also note that on top of those objects, your photo does not offer any more unnecessary stuff: a fact that is not that perfect in >>3064780.
the shady persons on the right, especially seen through the raindrops are again exciting, but the negative space to the left offers not that much contribution to this 'story' of the image.

You take well-framed and well spotted photos of a very exotic and interesting place but gimp them heavily with this high contrast crushed blacks black and white postprocessing, which is a shame.
