I discovered this board by accident 3 years ago. Somehow you guys sparked my interest in photography. I quit my job a year later and started studying photography, these are some of the pictures of my last term project.
I wouldn't have taken them without you and my life changed for the better after picking up a camera, thank you.

I like the photos

TRIGGER DISCIPLINE REEEEEEEEEE
These are all really sick man, I'd love to hear more about the stories behind some of them.
>>3063423
Taking pictures of disabled, retarded, and/or mentally ill people isn't street photography, artistic, or meaningful in any way; but it makes it clear how vapid and dull your life is when you think it has artistic value.

Holy fuck reduce the noise.

Yeah sorry bout that it was a bit underexposed and had to crop it a little
>>3063479
Nice bait but it isn't about the disabled man, I liked the posture, perspective and Interaction.
Also the literal definition of street photography is unposed photos of people in a public area. Not photos of non disabled people.

dude the image is shit

Get your head out of Steve McCurry's ass, the genre of making white people feel guilty for niggers has long ran out of interest. But I bet you get lots of leftie unwashed deadlock white girls interested in your 'incredible' experiences.

The light, my man. It's pretty flat in some shots desu but there's nothing you can do about it.

I think the drone was owned by NTV, a big TV station in Uganda.
Guns are pretty common in Uganda. Most supermarkets have metal detectors and armed guards for example. Getting a gun aimed at you can happen.
>>3063476
Thanks, I didn't think I had to explain much since I expected more people to get them by themselves. The final product of the pictures is a book, without any explanatory texts, so we'll keep it like that for now.
>>3063519
No you wouldn't
>>3063690
There never was a genre out of guilt since there never was interest to begin with. Check out Afredo Jaars work Searching for Arfica in LIFE for example.

Don't be cheap. Your flight alone was worth more that most people you'll meet could earn, everybody will think you are rich, don't treat people like that though.
Depending on how long you'll stay and how clever you are you'll get a feel for the prices, be prepared that you have to pay more just because you are a foreigner. Pay it, if it's not outrageously higher than the normal price. It doesn't hurt you most likely and the people can use the money.
Be nice to kids, depending on where you are it's likely that you are the first white guy they meet. You set the standard.
The same goes for taking pictures. You set the standard of what people back home think of Africa/Kenya, so think twice before you might end up in poverty tourism. Dignity should always be your first priority if you are a guest.

>Dignity should always be your first priority if you are a guest.
Fuck off with this attitude. If you're going to document, you fucking document. If you're doing a fluff piece, don't claim it as documentation.
>>3063750
the fucking hell
>>3063758
>You set the standard of what people back home think of Africa/Kenya, so think twice before you might end up in poverty tourism. Dignity should always be your first priority if you are a guest.
Shouldn't the goal be to document what you see, not make some propoganda about the place in order to manipulate the audience?
A camera man should be the audiences' eyes, not their brain.
How much do the prostitutes in the area go by? Is AIDS an issue?
>>3068462
>Is AIDS an issue?
>Africa
>>3068291
>Document what you see
Unless you have a video camera that is rolling 24/7, you are never documenting exactly what you see. You document and take photos of things that are in line with your project vision.
This is how it always is. This is how we get the "single story" problem of "the country of Africa". And it extends beyond that continent to anywhere in the world for any story.
You want to document rampant poverty and drug use among the homeless in Vancouver? You take photos of people shooting up heroin in the street.
Why didn't you take a photo of two homeless people smiling and joking around or applying for a job? Because it's not in line with your story or goals.
I'm not trying to knock anyone's work, or trying to downplay poverty/war-torn areas -- but don't think for a second that you are "documenting what you see". Everything you create is your vision/propaganda. You always include or exclude things.
>t. a journalist.
>>3069931
You have autism and are a great demonstration of why journalism, as a whole, is a failing institution.
You're so condescending that you don't realize you're just projecting.
>>3063343
This one has great lines
>>3069931
I don't agree. If you are not actively trying to be impartial you are not documenting but storytelling. Either is fine as long as you are honest in what it is you are doing.
>>3063324
Are the shoes from people taking them off before going inside the house? And people say Africa's not civilized, how mistaken they are.

The new Fallout looks good
wait so all photos ITT are from a movie set?
These photos aren't good, you need a hell of a lot of practise.
The reason people suck dick for photos like this is because they're in Africa, or Asia, or some 'poor' country. Like taking photos of homeless people - they're often not well composed or processed but the content gets people's dicks so hard.
They're underexposed. On the portraits the faces aren't in focus enough, or are underexposed, or you can't see enough of their face (gun snaps are cool, but change the angle so you see more of the faces). The lighting often ruins the photos. Understandably, it's bright, but you need to manage that with the time of day you shoot, or which way the subject faces.
If these portraits were of white people in a civilised country, they would be complete trash.
