>like photography
>take class on it
>buy my own shitty little film camera from goodwill auction
>oh man i cant wait!
>oh fuck i dont go outside ever
im cryng
>like cameras
>buy expensive camera
>train myself with youtube videos. get with the times OP
>oh man i can't wait
>oh wait i have absolutely no reason to take any photos in my life, so even outside i take random snapshots that have no reason to exist
>start thinking of things that interest me
>photograph those things
>portfolio is filled with pictures of the same few things

I realize that while advocating for youtube learning with such ruthlessness I'm actually ironically pointing out why my life has no content.

>have a lot of pictures of inside my room/outside the window view
well shit, i thought i was the only one
>like photography, but only a certain niche of it (astro)
>buy my first (used) DSLR with a kit telezoom lens
>buy cheap tripod from Aldi
>start taking photos of birds and random things a lot more than astro stuff
>decide I need a standard zoom, so buy a standard kit lens for peas
>buy a cheap babby normal prime
>start thinking about my snapshits and starting to sink into the valley of despair
>stop taking photos because too scared of taking just another worthless snapshit
>eventually I do take a few snapshits and some of them turn out to be half-decent
>took two years to show a little bit of improvement
I feel less desperate now and I stopped blaming my cheap gear for my lack of success. I only upgraded my telezoom to a 70-200/2.8 when I ran into a dim light problem regularly.
Now I mostly focus on the scene and the subject and nothing about photo rules, composition or gear technicalities. I only compose for what seems balanced in the viewfinder.
I got a better tripod since but I still don't take many astro shots.
Life is strange sometimes, it is better to just relax and go with the flow rather than worrying about it.
