Didn't have a ton of time to focus on photography so I'm not thrilled with any of them but I hope it gets a taste of the city.

Euro terra cotta roof times get me so hard

When taking travel photos, (unless you are just taking them for yourself and your memory) it's important to try and have a stance, to maintain a perspective other than simply "this is beautiful and interesting because I have never seen it before." Otherwise your pictures will start to look like any other pictures taken of that place by a tourist.
These are decently taken shots, but they fall into the camp of being little more than evidence of travel. There is nothing wrong with that if that's all you want, so only take this as a criticism if you were wanting something else.

Yeah if I had a few extra days I might have been able to keep a theme or something but I was mainly just trying to capture the vibe and feel of the place for someone who may never go or hasn't been.
>>3055374
You have that backwards. Trying to capture the "vibe and feel" of a place takes considerable thought and experience, plus a somewhat intimate knowledge of the place. That's what travel photographers get paid for. If you only have a couple days, and want to walk away with a small portfolio (even if it's mostly personal) focus on a smaller idea, something that is more easily contained than the entire phenomenology of a place as seen from an always changing perspective. The broader you set your themes, the more challenging a task you set for yourself. It's quite the idea that you're going to capture the feeling of Venice in a few short days. As it stands, all you've got is "some things that caught my eye in a vaguely objective and distanced manner while in venice, that are not of a theme, or necessarily well studied, but rather are the things and places I happened to see during my otherwise uneventful travels, or at least uninteresting enough that I felt these imagers were more worth capturing."

If you can't get the taste of an area from even Facebook snapshits you're broad as fuck, also nice projecting kek.
>>3055613
You literally just dismissed the entire purpose of art, and didn't even know it. Might as well read the wikipedia page, amiright? If one person has experienced it, than any communication of that experience will be like everyone experienced it, amiright?

>Trying to capture the "vibe and feel" of a place takes considerable thought and experience, plus a somewhat intimate knowledge of the place
Correct
>The broader you set your themes, the more challenging a task you set for yourself.
Also correct
>travel photographers get paid
lol

>phenomenology
topkek
nice big word, kiddo, but i'll stick to Ruskin and Merleau-Ponty
>>3057107
I didn't say they got paid well. I just meant it's why anyone buys their pictures at all.

>Mentions author who captures the feel/perception of a place in time

>>3055114
This one is also nice, or at least everything fits well, but the boats came out a bit too dark
>>3055116
Very good angle! Again tho, the reflections in the water are a bit too distracting
The rest aren't all that special. You should pay more attention to exposure.
But anyway, this is why most photogs go to forgotten places to take pictures these days, everyone goes to Venice and such and takes thousands upon thousands of pictures of roughly the same thing. If these are for yourself and friends, none of that matters anyway. Just have fun taking pictures, share them with those close to you, and try to get better at it if you want. This should first of all be fun, nobody on this board makes money from travel photo anyway
I wish there were more traveling threads, like this or the one about the guy that went to North Korea. Yes, photos may be a bit generic, but these threads are way better than gearshitposting.
Thanx for sharing op (you're still a faggot though)
