Townsville?
>>3050543
i like the photo, but the pp is shit. lower the blacks a tad. and pull down the highlights
>>3050546
>>3050547
tasty colours, nice composition, seems like your lens is a bit shit, or you got grease on it or something..
>>3050545
>>3050544
subject is cool, but something is lacking, the composition seems off..
the one with the sign is promising, but the background shouldve been in focus, and it shouldve been shot on medium format

Logan.

Was my first go at shooting BW. I'd heard good things about the Fuji Acros sim and decided to try it out on the floods because the water was brown with blue reflections and very ugly.
What makes you say I have grease on the lens? The clouds are out of focus because it's like f 5.
I find it very interesting that you say it should have been shot on MF, like 99% of the photographers that inspire me do new topographics type stuff with MF. I find myself preferring a more square crop than the default 2:3.

i dunno why i said grease, that was just for examplifying how bad it looks iq wise.. i read x20 at first and thought that that was the reason; a pretty old compact with a tiny sensor. Theres something about the sharpness and contrast of the images that seems off, they seem washed out, and the corners on
>>3050547
is pretty soft, although you shot that one almost wide open so thats not that weird..
that goes for
>>3050543
too.
it reeks of kit lens.
>The clouds are out of focus because it's like f 5.
f5 on a crop sensor is equivalent to like f8 on fullframe though.. and id wager youd get everything in focus if you used hyperfocal distance, also id try to go for higher apertures and see if the iq improves
brown with blue reflections sounds pretty cool if you process it correctly. beige, brown, light blue and dirt green is my favourite colour palette
gotta love our yearly routine of floods in QLD
it is the kit lens. I do have a tendency to not stop down when I should, I'll work on that.
>>3050597
you should get yourself a decent prime as soon as you can afford it, your photos deserve it
>>3050608
thankyou
the only problem with primes is that i find them limiting. I'd be open to short range zooms as an option though.
>>3050543
making random shit b&w doesn't automatically make it better
The BW was on purpose, in camera. The water was ugly as all fuck. I took a few colour pics and the water looked bad so I deleted them.
OIS on
>>3054212
I'd keep it off above 1/250th...or lower depending on FL.
>>3054215
why?
>>3054216
Diminishing returns, all stabilisation systems continue to move as the shot is fired. They're awesome at 1/4 of a second, but introduce movement at 1/1000.
>>3054218
ah true
